Meet Jay Marshall

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jay Marshall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jay below.

Jay, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I learned my work ethic from my family and my faith. My parents showed me what it meant to work hard and stay steady, even when life wasn’t easy. They taught me to be dependable and to take pride in doing things the right way. My faith in God reinforced that, it reminds me that work is more than a paycheck, it’s a way to serve others and honor the opportunities I’ve been given. Those lessons stuck with me. Now, when I show up for my clients, I carry that same mindset. I know they’re trusting me to help their business grow with Google Ads, and I treat that trust with the same seriousness my family taught me to bring into everything I do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I help business owners grow by using Google Ads to connect them with the customers already searching for their services. What excites me most is how quickly it can make a difference. One month the phone is quiet and stress is high. The next month calls are coming in and there’s a sense of relief and confidence again.

What makes my work special is the way I approach it. I don’t outsource and I don’t treat clients like numbers. I take the time to understand their business and build a strategy that fits. For me, success goes beyond traffic reports. It’s about seeing a business owner feel less pressure and more hope because they finally see steady growth.

Right now, I’m focused on helping business owners who don’t have the resources, knowledge, or time to manage Google Ads on their own. That’s where I step in and take that weight off their shoulders. Many of my clients are skilled at what they do, they just need someone they can trust to handle the advertising. That’s the mission that keeps me excited every day.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

For me, three qualities have made the biggest difference:

Consistency
Success doesn’t come from one big moment, it comes from showing up day after day. I learned to treat every client and every campaign with the same steady effort. My advice is simple: don’t wait for motivation. Build habits that keep you moving forward even on the tough days.

Curiosity
Google Ads is always changing, and so is business. I had to stay curious and keep learning instead of thinking I had it all figured out. For anyone starting out, make learning part of your routine. Read, test, and ask questions. Curiosity will keep you sharp when others fall behind.

Listening
I found that listening to clients is just as important as knowing the platform. When you understand what keeps them up at night, you can build solutions that truly help. My advice: don’t just sell what you do. Listen first, then show how you can take some of that weight off their shoulders.

Those three qualities, consistency, curiosity, and listening have guided me from the start, and they’re what I’d encourage anyone to practice early in their journey.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teaching me the value of faith and hard work. They showed me that no matter what life throws at you, you stay steady, you put in the effort, and you trust God to guide your steps. I remember seeing them work long days, not for recognition, but to take care of the family and do what was right. That example shaped how I live and how I run my business today.

When I help a business grow with Google Ads, I carry those same lessons with me. Show up, do the work with integrity, and trust that the results will come. That foundation from my parents is something I lean on every single day.
