Meet Jay Pluto

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jay Pluto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jay below.

Hi Jay, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I would say I get a lot of my resilience from my children and family. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY was tough when you aspired to do better than the generation before you and influencers in that environment. As an African-American millennial, I know the feeling and pressure of being the first to graduate from college, or buy a house in one’s family.

So when I see my kids it brings me resilience and motivation to continue to be better, so they can be even better than me, hopefully creating a new cycle of generational wealth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve been writing and recording since I was 14, and music has been a daily part of my life ever since. I’ve been fortunate to have a few placements on shows with MTV and Bravo, which has been a rewarding milestone in my career. I also run a graphic design company called The Medeor Company, where we’ve created work for various brands and businesses, including projects featured on Times Square billboards. Recently, I released a self-produced song with Brooklyn artist RRose RRome that premiered on Power 105.1 in NYC.

As a Howard University graduate, I’m passionate about giving back to my community and am interested in starting a program for at-risk youth. The program would provide access to enriching resources and mentorship in areas like music production, engineering, digital marketing, graphic design, and public relations.

What I love most about what I do is knowing I’m really good at it, and the excitement of growing and evolving. I look forward to seeing what I’ll create in the next 2 months, 1 year, or even 5 years. Creating is where I’m most comfortable, and it’s what drives me every day.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, empathy, and assertiveness.

My advice to people early in their journey is to develop these qualities, you’ll set a strong foundation for your career and navigate the challenges that come your way with confidence and compassion.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I am currently open to working with new talent, brands, and collaborative projects. I’m looking to partner with people who think outside the box and bring a unique vibe to the table. If you’re interested in collaborating, feel free to connect with me on Instagram at @Jayplutooo. Let’s create something amazing together!
