We were lucky to catch up with Jaymie Gerena recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaymie, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I wasn’t always a confident person. Due to years of trauma, I actually didn’t have much confidence at all. I believed for a long time I was worthless or not enough.
I got fed up feeling this way and went on to understand myself and why I thought the way I thought.
I learned that confidence is a choice. it’s an ability to take action even when you don’t want to. it is a decision to DO when you’re afraid that raises confidence. you don’t just wake up confident. you do the uncomfortable tasks that support you in gaining confidence around something you lacked confidence in.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As an entrepreneur, I run multiple businesses, one of them being a marketing agency and the other being a Transformational Strategist. I am passionate about helping people release what no longer serves them so that they can fully embody what purpose, passion and fulfillment look like, for them.
I have supported people through the process of healing from traumas, ptsd, eating disorders, and even just the everyday limitations we face in business.
I started as a team of one and have expanded to a team of 5 in just a few short Years.
I now travel the world for my coaching practice as I expand into the speaking arena.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the top 3 are:
consistency
courage
& discipline
Consistency mainly because you cant create anything great without excitement alone. You have to be willing to move forward even when it doesn’t FEEL fun. The person with the least skill can out perform anyone who has natural skill but lacks consistency. The underdog wins because of their daily habits.
Courage to do what most won’t for a period of time so that they can have what most DON’T
& the discipline to show up when its hard. It’s going to be hard but you have to have the mental fortitude to proceed forward through the hard times no matter what.
I would recommend starting a routine that you stick to that supports your desire to move forward. the top 3 things that are most important when building any business is 1. clarity – Clarity around who you support and business who your ideal client is what they like what they don’t like what they’re looking for the problems that they have, and how you solve them specifically. Then next most important thing to know about building business is content. This is where you actually speak to the people that need you most with information on how you support them information around where they are and where they desire to go plugging in your product and or service with the solution.
The next thing that you should focus on is closing. If you don’t have leads you do not have a business. So constantly getting in front of new people new faces so that you can expand your skills of sales is going to be the most vital piece of information you need to build a business
If you can learn the art of selling, you can crush any industry.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Tony Robbins found me when I didn’t realize I needed him. I remember going to google one day searching how to be happy and he popped up on my screen. He has been the most profound impact on my life and on my journey. I attended one of his events and was instantly hooked. I’ve now attended for events and have supported in crewing multiple events for Tony Robbins himself.
