Meet JayQuan (ChefJay) McNeil

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JayQuan (ChefJay) McNeil . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JayQuan (ChefJay) below.

Hi JayQuan (ChefJay), appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I honestly can say my resilience comes from discomfort having to navigate the simple things we call life and figuring things out on a day to day basis trying to stay steps ahead of my future and what I wanted out of it. I always knew I wanted more for myself and but never to step away from my passion.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am currently doing research hands on and more on vegan inspired menus hoping to expand my pallet even more to fit and serve a wider range of customers and I love the idea of including even more farm fresh dishes so that’s something to look out for in the near future

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three Qualities I think helped a lot with me was the skills to be willing to always learn more have the hunger the drive to want to keep building knowledge and thinking out the box.

The second one would be to be passionate I have always genuinely enjoyed the process behind food itself and the joy it brings from the kitchen to the table top.

Third would be flexibility be able to Blend in all area because you never know what the day has planned ahead but you always stay positive and make the best of every second.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am overwhelmed or overstimulated I tend to take a quiet moment to myself regroup and rethink my drawing board so I can strategize a more effective way to complete whatever task at hand I am facing.
