We were lucky to catch up with Jaytee Matos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jaytee, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I got my generosity from having nothing most of my life. When I was at rock bottom I told god if he put me in the position to help people, I would.
So I’m keeping my word

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
So I grew up in Las Vegas, I was homeless by 16 years old. Nowhere to go and got tied up in the street life. In 2017 that ended with me getting shot 8 times and barely surviving. After that I told myself I needed to change my life or I would be dead very soon. So I did, I went to Barberschool and used that a foundation to live a life of legality.
From there I worked for Betmgm as a sports trader ( the one who creates the betting lines) after realizing I could take my talents and make a lot more money if bet them myself and find discrepancies on the starting line then I could potentially make a lot of money. Well it worked out just like that, for the first time in my life I started making well over 6 figure. Nearly 7, which in return helped me start my own barbershop. After spending over 100k on buying a failing barbershop and gutting it to make it a luxury barbershop. Now I am currently going for my instructor license so that 2026 I can open up my own Barberschool.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most impactful qualities I had was my determination, consistency and out-of-the-box thinking.
My advice to people early in their journey is educate yourself.. if you didn’t do good in school like I did, atleast teach yourself as an adult. Cut out all the movies, partying, social media and start watching stuff that will educate you on economics and things you need to know so you can take advantage of them.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I would spend it traveling, giving away any wealth I have to unfortunate people from other countries.
I would spend it happy.
