We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jayy Sanders a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayy, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my father, who always emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. That foundation was further solidified during my 8 1/2 years in the Army, where I learned the value of teamwork, resilience, and pushing through challenges to accomplish a mission. Both experiences shaped me into someone who is committed to excellence and always willing to go the extra mile.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I create high-quality, pet-friendly products designed to keep dogs clean, fresh, and happy. From soothing aloe & oatmeal shampoos to refreshing dog deodorizers and sprays, my goal is to provide pet owners with safe, effective solutions they can trust. What excites me most is knowing that my products enhance the bond between owners and their pets by making daily care routines easier and more enjoyable.
As a veteran-owned business, I bring the discipline and values I learned during my 8 1/2 years in the Army into everything I do, ensuring a commitment to excellence in every product. Recently, we’ve expanded our line to include a blueberry breeze spray and aloe & oatmeal conditioner, with more exciting launches planned in the near future.
I’d like people to know that my passion for dogs extends beyond the products—I’m also a dog breeder and the proud owner of Poodle Paradise LLC. I’m dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of both pets and their owners.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been discipline, adaptability, and passion. 1. Discipline: I developed a strong work ethic from my father and through 8 1/2 years in the Army. Staying consistent and focused on your goals, even when things get tough, is critical. My advice? Start small—create routines and set daily goals to build discipline over time.
2. Adaptability: In both the military and business, I’ve learned that things don’t always go as planned. Being open to change and finding creative solutions is key. For those starting out, practice viewing challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
3. Passion: My love for dogs and creating products that improve their lives keeps me motivated. When you’re passionate about what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. My advice? Find something you genuinely care about and let that drive you.
Each of these qualities helped shape my journey, and I believe they’re essential for anyone looking to build something meaningful.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m always looking for opportunities to collaborate with individuals and businesses who share a passion for high-quality pet care. I’m particularly interested in partnering with pet stores, groomers, and other retailers who value providing their customers with top-of-the-line dog care products. My goal is to get my products into more stores to increase exposure and show people just how exceptional they are.
