Meet Jazzlynn Hickman

We were lucky to catch up with Jazzlynn Hickman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jazzlynn, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Hi everyone,

I found my purpose by rededicating my life back to Christ. I wanted to strengthen my relationship with God and allow him to help me through my daily life. This year was very hard for me, but I kept my faith in God and allowed him to walk with me during the struggles I had in the past 8 months. It definitely was a liberating experience. I wanted to shed light on others by giving people a blueprint on how to deal with trauma bonding and doing the inner healing work to be able to function as a genuine person. I wanted to make a transition in my life and make a difference in my community and for my peers. I know when I joined the Its Works company, it allowed me to find out who I was as a person. I endured a lot of losses and heartache, but this business allowed me to grow as a person and find myself in the spiritual growth and development stage. I know one thing; this business gave me the confidence and clarity of my destiny. I am so glad, that I am allowed to be surrounded by God-fearing people and having the space to get more spiritual development and growth. My experience this year has helped me grow and learn new things about myself that I didn’t know existed. I am so thankful that I chose to say YES to making a difference in the community and spreading awareness to people that deal with being different and trying to embrace their gifts– also following a path to strengthen their walk in Christ. I am so glad that I decided to make some changes and give my peers advice on how to still live life regardless of what is going on around them.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am 34 years old, and I have 15-year-old daughter. I been doing customer service for 10 plus years. I am the owner of Jazzie Treats, LLC. It’s a home baked business. I started this business baking for family and friends. I decided to make it a business in 2019. I’ve been doing this type of work since 2014, but I learned how to bake as a child. My mom taught me how to bake at the age of 6, but I learned my baking skills in my early twenties. I recently started a health and wellness business through It Works this year. I am a distributor, and I sell plant-based products. I started as a customer in December of 2024 and loved the products so much, I decided to join the business. I lost a total of 97lbs being on the products and I love it because this business allowed me to gain more confidence and got me out of my shell. I’ve always been a people person by selling my baked goods at pop-up shops and vendor events, but this business allows me the space I need to be able to be more positive and transparent about a lot of things. I have a few clients in this business, but my goal is to gain more followers and give more understanding to people that are trying to change their overall health and not just focus on the weight lost part. People ask me all the time how I sell sweets and health products at the same time; I tell them it’s all about balance. I provide several services in both of my businesses which to allows me to spread awareness about financial freedom, variety in products or baked good, and I also can be flexible with event planning. In Jazzie Treats, LLC, I most do customized cakes and treat tables– but I am mostly known for my banana pudding, butter rolls, cookies, brownies and peach cobbler. I’ve served many people, and I am well known in Mississippi, Tennesse, and Arkansas. I am so well known in Georgia, Florida, and Missouri. I offer shipping on most products, and I deliver to local areas. In Jazzie’s Health and Wellness Shoppe, I have products for gut health, beauty, weight control, and incentive programs. This business allows me to ship products from the headquarters located in Florida directly to the customers without storing it at my home. It usually takes 7-10 business days to receive. My goal is to open a shop that I can be able to reach all of my clientele, regardless of the distance, with good products and allow a healthier option for the ones that love sweets but can’t enjoy them due to a condition or illness. Both businesses are very special to me because I love to see a customer’s reaction when I am able to help them with something or I can bring their vision to life in a cake or treat table. I really enjoy what I do, and I am so glad that I get to use my gift to bless others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most important things I have learned in the business/customer service world is that ‘it takes genuine relationship building, true dedication, and faith. Regardless of the things I faced in my many different roles, I didn’t allow what people said or thought about me make me quit. I didn’t stop my business ideas no matter how much push back I have gotten while building my brand, I didn’t allow it to stop me. The drive I have to make sure everyone is happy or satisfied helped me realize how much of an overcoming I am when dealing with different personalities, the high demand for product, and how to deal with good time management skills. I struggle a lot with being on time because I would run into problems along the way. Learning to follow a strict schedule and using a time planner helped me be more organized and get to events on time. I also learned how to embrace change. I didn’t realize that I changed so many people lives by what I post daily to help people deal with certain things as an entrepreneur along with dealing with life period. Being a single mother, full time student, content creator, baker, distributor, caregiver and many other hats I wear have an interesting impact on my life, but I’ve learned a lot from what I do, and I am very proud of the accomplishments I’ve done over the years. I can say good communication skills are important and seeking understanding before responding is essential as well. A lot of times, we tend to not hear what is wanted and can misinterpret what is being said, so I had to learn how to listen more clearly, so I can avoid certain things along the way. Having a clear understanding is what I’ve worked on, and it has improved tremendously this year.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teaching me how to function in life. I am so thankful that my parents took out the time to teach my siblings and I how to survive. My dad used to instill scriptures in our life and the verse he had me memorize is Hebrew 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” I’ve whole-heartly based my whole life on this one scripture and it has helped me in life so much. He and my mom both are from Christian background, but I always remember him praying with us and giving us bible study at home daily. My mom kept us in church and planned trips/activities for us to stay active. She also taught me about having good work ethic and how to be a good homemaker/caregiver. She has worked in the community rather it was with children or elderly care for years. I also got my creativity side from her. I picked up technology and my engineer skills from my dad by watching him work on computers and him teaching students at the University of Mississippi. I picked up skills as a videographer and computer expert from him by watching him design things on the CAD program and helping him with certain projects around the house. I am so blessed to have two parents that were willing to work hard and show us what to do in the modern world. They are good examples and influences in my life. I am very grateful.
