Meet Jazzmen Johns

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazzmen Johns a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzmen, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
We developed our work ethic through our drive and determination to foster a better environment and life for our children. This keeps us motivated and always striving to improve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the Owner of Snapper Mike’s Fresh Catch. We specialize in all things Florida, providing fresh local seafood to our community, as well as educating people on invasive species to raise awareness and benefit the overall health of our ecosystem. We are very passionate about Florida seafood and strive to open people’s minds to the wide variety of unique fish available. Snapper Mike’s is a very creative business offering homemade and fresh products to highlight our Florida fish like delicious smoked fish and Dips. My husband and I love building a friendly atmosphere and healthy working environment by bonding with our customers and employees. As a business we want to expand throughout South Florida, which is why social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube are important to us as they can showcase our products and processes.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that were most impact full in our journey include:

-Entrepreneurial Grit.
-My husband’s in depth knowledge of
fish.
-Our combined determination to leave a
positive mark on the community and
seafood industry.

Firstly, from a very young age I have always had a nac for marketing and sales, even though funnily enough I had no idea what those things were at the time. This led me to develop my entrepreneurial grit which sparked the inspiration for Snapper Mike’s Fresh Catch.
Secondly, my husband for as long as I’ve known him has been one with fish. Whether its salt water or fresh he knows it all, like my very own fish encyclopedia.
Lastly, we as a couple have always wanted to leave our mark on the community and with this business we can. Through our combined determination we are elevating the standards of the seafood industry and creating more awareness about our local ecosystem.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
As you navigate through the enteruperal lifestyle you may not realize at the beginning the skills that you my be lacking or need to develop more. Mike and myself, I believe we have been the most helpful to eachother. Really encouraging eachother to grow in everything we do, so we can become the most successful versions of ourselves. We each have different aspects, ideas, and skills that we separately bring to the table making Snapper Mike’s what it is. So having that true partner that understands you, your weaknesses, and gives you that encouragement to continually seek ways to progress and learn different way to improve. Because they believe you can do anything you set you mind, as well as see the things you never knew you would be great at, is amazing and that is what we are to eachother.
