We were lucky to catch up with JD Weeks recently and have shared our conversation below.
JD, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I believe my confidence has been developed over the years by several different things. First being my parents, they are both very capable people, I grew up doing a lot of projects around the house with them. that is where I learned how to figure things out for myself. once you get the hang of that your confidence only builds as you continue to accomplish tasks.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Over the years my business has grown. I have been able developed not only personally but professionally. I have slowly been realizing that the creative side of the business is where I get the most excited. with that being said, the next avenue I have begun to explore is customizing vehicles with wrapping and printed vinyl.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I started my business, I was coming from high level customer service jobs in golf and hospitality. The soft skills and qualities that seem to make the most impact with clients were very simple. Communication: Respond and show up when you say you will. Gratitude: be grateful your client is using your service and be happy to be doing your job that day. Trust: be honest, don’t cut corners, know what you are talking about, and be willing to do the research when you don’t.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to partner with businesses in the automotive industry. I am looking for individuals or businesses that are dedicated to quality in their craft, it could be anything from a new detailing product, a custom car builder, or even the local golf course that wants to provide its members with access to car detailing while they golf.
I would also love to partner with a local non-profit in some way to help the community: I.E. training at a local high school, washing disabled veterans’ cars at their home who can get around easily. or even sponsoring a local jr. sports team.
