Meet Jeanette Ivey

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeanette Ivey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeanette below.

Jeanette, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

I’ve learned that people’s projections often have very little to do with me and everything to do with their own unhealed parts. When I stopped taking things personally, it became easier to stay grounded in my purpose.

I built my business from the ground up, and there were plenty of people who doubted me some quietly, some loudly. But instead of letting that discourage me, I used it as fuel to keep going. Every setback taught me something about discipline, self-trust, and grace.

The truth is, when you move differently, not everyone will understand you and that’s okay. I remind myself that I’m not here to prove anyone wrong; I’m here to prove myself right. Staying focused on growth, integrity, and the people I actually serve keeps the noise in the background where it belongs.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the Artist, Educator, Beauty Enthusiast, and Founder behind Ivey Artistry Studios and Muse Academy, located in Lafayette Village, Raleigh. What started as a one-woman operation has grown into a creative collective that brings together some of the most talented artists in beauty, tattoo, and aesthetics.

What excites me most about what I do is helping people feel seen and confident whether it’s through the art of brows or through education that empowers other artists to build their own businesses. My studio isn’t just a space for services; it’s a community built on artistry, mentorship, and growth.

At Muse Academy, I train and mentor future artists in permanent makeup, giving them both the technical foundation and the business tools they need to thrive. I believe beauty and education go hand in hand one fuels creativity, the other fuels independence.

This year has been all about expansion and collaboration — from welcoming new artists into my studio, to hosting guest trainers from across the country, to developing new advanced courses and wellness-focused content. It’s been incredible to watch the Ivey Artistry brand evolve into something bigger than myself a space where art, empowerment, and authenticity all meet.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most important qualities that have shaped my journey are resilience, authenticity, and self-discipline.

Resilience taught me to keep going when things got uncomfortable or uncertain because every challenge I’ve faced has helped refine my purpose. Authenticity keeps me grounded in who I am and what I stand for, even when opinions or trends try to pull me off course. And self-discipline has been the bridge between my vision and the results I see today.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to start where you are, stay consistent, and never compromise your truth for validation. The more you pour into your craft with integrity and heart, the more aligned opportunities find their way to you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely. I’m always open to partnering with artists, educators, and brands that share my passion for creativity, integrity, and growth. Collaboration is one of my favorite parts of what I do especially when it brings fresh energy and value to the beauty and wellness community.

I love working with people who are purpose-driven, whether that’s through education, events, product development, or empowering others to build their own careers. I’m especially drawn to partnerships that celebrate authenticity and innovation within the beauty and artistry space.

Anyone interested in collaborating can reach out through Instagram @gotbrowsbyjeanette or through my studio website iveyartistry.com I’m always excited to connect with other creatives who are ready to build something meaningful.
