We were lucky to catch up with Jeanna Fullard recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jeanna , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Purpose can be defined as the reason why something is created or done or the reason for its’ existence.
I found my purpose through prayer. At the age of 18 I sat on my bed one evening and broke out into prayer. I prayed unto the Creator that he would remove any person or thing from my life that didn’t move me closer to the purpose he intended for me. Over the next few months, I saw how my circles of friends and professional peers diminished. I remember crying and feeling depressed as I felt lonely and abandoned. It took for me to undergo depression in order to finally ask the Creator what was my purpose.
From that prayer, I was offered my first job in human resources. I enjoy helping people and providing guidance and support to them. Then one day I was back on my knees in prayer and it came to me just like an epiphany, that my purpose in life is to share light and love. This purpose was quite easy because with my daily efforts to help others it gives me great joy. It certainly than became icing on the cake when I flourished in my HR career, it confirmed that motivating others and sharing light and love are my niche.
In order to truly walk in my purpose of sharing light and love I started a motivational Facebook Group, Motivational Moments in 2012 that now provides daily motivation to nearly 800 members. Additionally, I am the founder of the women’s empowerment group Sistahs of Texas which serves as a professional and social networking platform for over 1,100 women of color throughout the state of Texas.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I like to think that I can do almost every thing. My knowledge and experience spans far. I have 15+ years of experience within the HR sector specializing in employee relations, HR operations, and talent acquisition. My experience led me to start my own résumé writing business which has now evolved into a full career development services consulting business. From this I have led several career development workshops both virtual and in-person. Some of my clients from this include, state agencies and workforce commissions.
Additionally, I enjoy curating professional networking and social events. My passion for event planning and execution has afforded me the opportunity to plan events for major clients within the non-profit sector as well as several clients in the public and private sectors.
Serving as a brand ambassador for several liquor and fashion brands has helped me gained additional confidence and networking skills. I also have my own mobile notary and loan document signing business, Prestigious Mobile Notary and Document Signing.
Due to my love for effective communication I previously launched an online weekly podcast show called The Jae Way. The show highlighted entrepreneurs and businesses and social topics. Life began to get busy so the show somehow got lost in the sauce. Relaunching the show is a goal that I have set for this year so be on the lookout.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important components that impacted and helped me during my journey were having a mentor, networking, and having a passion for the things that I’m doing.
A mentor will be amongst your greatest resource to have. This person naturally is a subject-matter expert and has a willingness to help you succeed.
Networking will surely aid in determining your net worth. It truly is in your best interest to surround yourself with like-minded individuals and those who have achieved the level of success that you desire.
Last, but certainly not least you must have a desire and be passionate about any career or business that you choose in order to be happy and obtain success.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
When I look over the past 12 months I can see where my life has shifted drastically within my professional and personal life. I have always been a workaholic and immerse myself into work even though adversity. So for me my biggest area of growth has been finding a balance between work and life as well as creating more time to take moments for self-care.
These things have helped me improve my diet and exercise, sleep patterns, and overall mental well-being.
