Meet Jeannette Ceja

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeannette Ceja . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeannette below.

Hi Jeannette, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I would greatly attribute my optimism to my mother. To this day, she continues to be an exceptional role model for me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My purpose, personally and professionally, is to inspire, empower, and inform people about travel.

My why goes back to my childhood. I have great memories of being glued to the television as a young girl; after school (and homework), I always watched shows on the Travel Channel and the Discovery Channel. My mind was overwhelmed by how big and beautiful the world was while watching. Another important moment while watching these shows were the hosts. When I saw Samantha Brown, a woman, traveling and showing me the world on the Travel Channel, I realized that’s exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a travel host!

Later, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, completed four internships, and a study abroad in Sicily. Afterward, I attended every travel conference I could from Los Angeles to New York City to understand travel and tourism further. Throughout my college and professional career, I was lucky to have had excellent professors and mentors in everything from Journalism, Hosting, and Public Speaking.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities I continue to practice are dedication, empathy, and patience.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I feel that my most significant areas of improvement have been continuing to want to learn and seeking mentorship. I am always happy to continue growing and improving my skills. In addition, I now have a daily wellness routine, which includes morning yoga, reading, or going out for a jog.
