We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeevan Dhaker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jeevan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Not to brag but I’ve often been told that I have strong work ethic. I have never thought about it before but I feel like it comes from my upbringing. I grew up in India and my family believed in hard-work. I helped them in the agriculture farms when I was a child. All the work had to be done before a deadline so the rain or heat or cold wouldn’t affect the crops and we could get ready for the next season crops before it’s too late. I moved away from my family home to pursue my higher education but the work discipline stayed with me.
Now, as I am living in the US, I’m still benefitting from it and building relationships with other strong work ethic people. It is SATISFYING.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a content creator and run my own production company “Jeevan Productions”. I LOVE what I do. For my social media, I create men’s fashion and self-care content; for my clients, I create any kind of educational or promotional photos, videos, and graphics.
I love creativity and storytelling. Creating my own content gives me freedom to be creative and tell stories that I strongly believe in. My goal is to help men look & feel good.
On my production side, I like to bring other people’s vision to life by providing them great quality content that tells their stories.
We’re now offering remote video editing!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe that no matter what kind of work you do, there are some things that you need to excel in order to succeed. My top three virtues that have helped me a lot are: 1. Attention to detail (this is how other people will judge you/your work)
2. There’s always some room for improvement (so keep learning new things everyday)
3. Listening to all of the employees’ ideas/suggestions (no matter how new they are or at the bottom of the hierarchy)
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Due to my super busy schedules and trying to manage a couple of ventures together, I couldn’t read books for a couple of years. I recently started listening audiobooks while I’m either driving or cooking or working-out or cleaning/organizing (thanks to audible).
If I could only talk about one book it would be “outliers”. If I simplify this book, it is “When you have developed a talent and say yes to the right opportunity, success emerges”.
