Meet Jeff Walker

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeff Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

In 2018 I lost my younger sister unexpectedly and then in 2019 I lost my mother to stage 4 liver cancer. Finances were tight to the point I lost everything in the storage unit I had that had stored my mother and sisters belongings including photos that I would not be able to retrieve. Photography has become my passion for the very reason that I want to be able to impact lives and create memories through my lens.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I recently became a full time photographer after being in the industry for about 4 years. I currently own and manage our holiday photography set at our local mall for Christmas and Easter. I’m also the In house photographer at New York Fashion Week for Runway 7 Fashion. The majority of work that I shoot is Fashion as I have a background in as well Pastry Arts as well as being a Chocolatier. When deciding what type of photography I wanted to pursue it came down to what creativity can I bring to the industry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say what has contributed to most of my success is the power of self talk and the courage not to give up. I’ve always been one that has spent a lot of time in the personal development field building the mind but also cleansing it as well. We sometimes run into negatives experiences from our past that try to get us off path. It really has been about controlling the environment around you and only allowing good things into your mind. Even if it takes awhile to filter out the negative. Your self talk truly does hold power in what you can accomplish.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Think and grow rich has provided endless benefits along my journey! Changing my thought patterns has developed me into the entrepreneur that I’ve become today! Developing healthy habits doesn’t happen overnight, but small doses daily lead to consistent results. Becoming an entrepreneur teaches you so much more about yourself than just business.
