Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeffery Brock. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeffery , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
This is a great question. I found my purpose from being in customer service jobs Based jobs. With my jobs I would always find pleasure with helping people and making them fill great about themselves. When I got to cutting hair, I fell in love with how a haircut could change someone’s appearance but also make them feel good on the inside as well.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Jeffery Brock, I am a 2nd generation Barber/Groomer. I’ve been a Barber for 5 years now and still love it. It’s one of the reasons I get up in the morning. I also own a creative space called “DrizzyxStudios” which was opened up in April 2022. Lastly I educated for a product company “STMNT GROOMING GOODS”.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey was my abilities to interact with anyone from different backgrounds.
Being able to do that allowed me to gain clients and create relationships with people who eventually became family like.
Another skill is being able to cut all different textures of hair, which allowed me to expand my client range.
The third quality is the most important one. It was something my mentor told me when I first got started. It was to ‘treat people how you would like to be treated. If you practice this, you would go very far.
For people who are early In their own journeys, my advice would be to go at your own pace and look straight ahead. Life isn’t a race, its a marathon.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Anytime I start to feel overwhelmed I just take deep breathes and slow down my mind and body. Feeling overwhelmed is a form of anxiety. So the first thing to do is to calm the mind and take things 1 step at a time.
If you look at the top of the stairs you’ll get overwhelmed but if you look at the step in front of you it would seem easier and more achievable.
