We recently connected with Jeffrey Booth and have shared our conversation below.
Jeffrey, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
No matter what you decide to do or what stage of life you’re in, unfortunately in today’s world, you will undoubtedly have people rooting against you aka haters. When I first experienced this it was kind of a shock to be honest. It was astounding to me that some people, even some I know, were rooting against me or sending hateful messages on social media. Instead of letting this kind of behavior get you down, you need to turn it into fuel to motivate you even further, which is what I learned to do. Nowadays, I wouldn’t go as far to say I welcome it, but any negative energy directed toward me just makes me work that much harder. I love proving people wrong, again and again.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an entrepreneur, so I work in many different areas, but my main focus at the moment is my role as an event producer. I run a large-scale immersive events company currently operating in South Carolina and Florida, with more markets on the horizon. The most exciting part of my work is seeing the entire event come together from absolutely nothing to a day or night that people will never forget. It is super cool to watch the transformation from an empty space to a magical atmosphere that will be remembered forever. I actually had a couple get engaged at one of my Gatsby Gala events, which is very cool to me as they will remember that moment forever.
I’m currently working on an outdoor pickle-themed festival that will take place on September 21st at a beautiful space in Mount Pleasant, SC overlooking the Ravenel Bridge and Cooper River. This will be a one-of-a-kind event that you will not want to miss!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think creativity, persistence, and adaptability were the most impactful qualities and my previous decade of experience in digital marketing and social media was the most impactful skill. If you’re early in your journey and deciding whether to launch your own business or have just launched your business, my best advice is to be open to every opportunity that comes your way and always be eager to learn new skills. Even if something appears that it doesn’t relate to your business, trust me, you will gain valuable knowledge that you can adapt to your craft. No one knows everything, and you can learn something valuable from anyone.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I absolutely love collaborating with other people and businesses. For one, being an entrepreneur can get pretty lonely. You wouldn’t think that throwing events with 1,000+ people would be lonely, but the months of work behind the scenes can be isolating at times. In my opinion, collaboration is almost always a benefit as you get an entirely new perspective, have someone to bounce ideas off, you’ll learn a lot, and it’s just more fun. The key here is to make sure you know the other party well and each party knows their role and can actually perform it. It can get messy when one partner ends up doing most or all of the work.
That being said, I’m always open to collaborating with the right people. I’d be interested in collaborating with musicians, entertainers, local media, local brands (depending on the event theme), promoters, bar/venue owners, and many others. It’s really difficult to write out a complete list since it changes wildly with each event.
