Meet Jeffrey Brandon

We recently connected with Jeffrey Brandon and have shared our conversation below.

Jeffrey , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My mother is the source of my optimism. I can honestly say that she is the reason why I am so optimistic. She would always sit me down and we would practice drawing together by her bed. She would always inform me of my drawing abilities and progress. Her advice was to not let anyone tell me that I am not good or that I cannot improve on what I love or want to do with my talent. If you keep your optimism high and don’t let anyone knock you down, you will always improve at whatever you want to do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My profession is photography, and I hail from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I specialize in portraits, street, and editorial photography. I am currently concentrating on my role as the creative director for the photoshoot. Producing each photoshoot for both myself and brands. Proves that I am more than just a man with a camera. My excitement for the creative direction role has increased as I have learned more about what happens behind the scenes before the client contacts me. I aspire for individuals to realize that my photographer has endured the test of time and establishes a connection with the photograph, elevating it to the status of genuine art. Your readers should keep an eye out for my new project that I am currently working on. To me, it’s something that will make them truly emotional.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I possess optimism, the ability to read people, and the skill to network by making genuine connections with people. Don’t be a fly on the wall and come to the realization that you have to speak for your work just as much as you would like your work to speak for you. To get to the places or people you want to work with, it’s important to learn how to network and work in a room.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Kimmiski Adams is the person who truly helps me overcome these inadequate corporate skills. I struggled with writing emails, creating cover letters, and other tasks for brands. She assists me in developing the vital skills necessary to make mood boards, spreadsheets, and shot lists that brands require of me as a photographer. I am grateful to her for helping me develop those qualities.
