We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Je’laune Strong. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Je’Laune below.
Je’Laune, we sincerely appreciate you joining us today and agreeing to talk about some very personal topics. So, to kick things off, let’s talk about a tough one – divorce. Can you talk to us about how you overcame divorce?
For many people that have never gone through a divorce, it could very well seem like divorce is the effortless way out. I found divorce to be quite the opposite. It was like a death of a dream that was supposed to last a lifetime. I went into marriage looking for a forever partnership, but there were some issues that came up in the marriage that required intense healing and relearning of ourselves as individuals and as a couple. Unfortunately, we found that we did see ourselves going in the same direction in marriage because our individual directions did not align. That is not an easy reality to face after you have already taken on a new life together.
Even while still married, I felt the loneliest I had ever felt in life. I remember hearing myself weep in a way that I had never heard myself before. I remember mastering what I call the silent cry so much so that during the pandemic I found myself crying while still working and no one at work even noticed. I recall being a shell of myself and being told that if I could not manage what was going on at the time that I was weak. I remember feeling foolish for publicly choosing someone who would not choose me privately. My health declined starting with hair loss to a cancer scare. Then, there was a time when I just could not cry anymore. The tears dried up, and I told myself if I do not spiritually and emotionally get up from this place, depression would be my home.
I came across a life coach that would later become one of my friends. Through coaching, I was able to be heard, vocalize my feelings to someone who would listen, communicate more clearly to others, and establish boundaries for my protection. The beautiful thing about my life coach is that we have the same spiritual beliefs, and she would remind me of what we believe and how faith is required to unlock any door. Through the coaching process, I uncovered dynamics that needed to be revealed and discussed to be broken in my family as well as in my mind. I unlearned the stigmas that had me feeling a sense of lack prior to marriage and a sense of shame after divorce. I did not want to be a statistic, but I wanted to live a life of purpose.
What I learned is that I made a choice to marry someone that God did not choose for me. Until I acknowledged that privately and publicly, I would not be able to live a fruitful life. As they say, you are the company you keep. I remember praying to God to save my marriage, but after that things were worse. I asked God to help me to know what to do. I was feeling lonely, but divorce would mean also being alone. God reminded me that he is my company keeper in a lonely hour and that he would never leave me nor forsake me. So, I started walking with God more intentionally. I focused less on what my spouse was or was not doing and focused on my efforts with God. My coach helped me in this as well as we talked about scriptures and shared our testimonies. I was able to dream again and be inspired. I sought remedies for my health issues including creating my own scalp oil. I went through the pandemic taking pre-licensing courses to start my real estate agent career. I affirmed myself daily and started meditating until I felt peace in my spirit and home. As my relationship with God strengthened, any fear and sense of loneliness evaporated. Though God did not change his answer, I felt at peace with the decision of divorce.
As a real estate agent, I help those who may be struggling during or after a divorce to find resources. Should a customer or client need assistance, I refer them to people and organizations that can best help them. I am also considering providing the scalp oil I created in my alopecia journey to assist others in overcoming any hair loss they may be experiencing. Though the divorce process was a draining experience, it helped me to see my strength in an unusual way. It was a learning experience not a loss.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My life’s work is all about helping others. I have been blessed to work in 2 different career paths as a Clinical Pharmacist and a REALTOR®. I am licensed as a pharmacist in both Florida and Georgia and currently serve patients in the Atlanta and surrounding areas as a Clinical Pharmacist in the hospital setting. My career spans over a decade in this field and includes my most recent promotion to the Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Supervisor at my facility. As a REALTOR®, I have branded myself as the Essential Millennial Realtor. In this field, I offer education to both my clients and customers in a way I wish would have been available to me in my journey of homeownership. Both fields involve a level of mindfulness, passion for helping others, diligence, and resourcefulness which I strive to consistently provide in my interactions with patients, other healthcare professionals, customers, and clients.
There is so much information accessible through various communication channels that could be discouraging about the process of purchasing a home. My approach is one that brings inspirational education together with technology to allow for readily available material for on-demand use. Customers and clients can find educational materials such as eBooks at the Dreams to Keys Realty website (www.dtkrealty.com) and explanatory videos on the Je’Laune Strong | REALTOR YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@dreamstokeysrealty/featured?sub_confirmation=1). Of course, clients are afforded the opportunity to have more regular communication with me and specific advice on their homeownership journeys through representation.
As the Essential Millennial Realtor, I love to motivate my customers and clients to keep dreaming. The “My Dreams Have Keys” collection of Dreams to Keys Realty offers several tangible items to remind everyone to keep finding the keys to their dreams. The collection includes journals, unisex shirts, baseball style shirts, crewnecks, and hoodies. What is a homeowner’s life without the comfortable clothing, right? The year 2025 is one where you will see Dreams to Keys Realty and myself thriving like never before. Everyone connected to me will be propelled to do the same.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of my qualities that positively impacts my journey is my ability to learn new skills. Education is a part of my impact on my patients, customers, and clients as a real estate agent, pharmacist, and leader. It is pivotal for me to be as current as possible in my areas of expertise. This skill also compliments another positive quality which is my resourcefulness. It is my ethical responsibility to say when something is outside of my field and there is an expert in that area that is better suited to address the concern. A quality that I have that many might say is related to being a millennial is my curiosity. I am going to ask the why questions which aids me in representing my clients more effectively as well as speaking up for medication safety issues in the hospital setting. For anyone starting a new career or path in life, I would recommend unpacking the reason you are choosing this journey, celebrating your milestones, being patient with yourself, and being flexible to learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
An ideal client would be honest about their current position and be willing to follow guidance in a timely manner. The home buying and selling processes are ones where steps need to be taken in a timely manner or there could be some legal implications. It is important for a client not to delay the process especially once an executed contract is in place. I look forward to facilitating the homeownership journey for as many of those who have goals of homeownership as I can. If I am unable to represent a prospective client, I would be happy to refer each person to a real estate agent who can provide those services in the market of interest.
