Meet Jen Harris

We were lucky to catch up with Jen Harris recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jen , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

My journey in building confidence and self-esteem began when I started teaching yoga in 2015. Despite being fun and charismatic, I was terrified of speaking in front of others. But my love for yoga and my desire to share it pushed me to face that fear. For me, it’s been a process of practice, passion, and creativity. The confidence developed through teaching many classes, where I learned to be bolder with the tone and volume of my voice. Over time, I began to share myself more authentically in my teaching.

Letting go of worrying about what others thought and allowing ideas to flow during class was a significant turning point. I embraced creativity, even if it sometimes didn’t come out perfectly, and found that students valued authenticity more than perfection. As my confidence grew, I began to embody different energies while teaching, starting with peace, joy, and love, and now exploring more complex energies, like channeling Venus when she’s in Leo. I also share messages and tools to help students take their yoga practice off the mat.

Preparation has been key to this growth. I always center myself with a bit of chi-gong or meditation before teaching to stay grounded and keep creativity flowing. My self-esteem grew alongside my confidence, supported by working with teachers and doing my own healing work. The most helpful practice has been noticing and changing thoughts that aren’t aligned with my true self. Studying and teaching mindfulness taught me that we are not our thoughts and that self-esteem comes from within, not from external validation.

The confidence I gained from teaching yoga led me to teach meditation, open my own wellness company, and make choices that resonate with my true self. It empowered me to take risks and pursue what I love, rather than staying in unhealthy situations.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am currently expanding my wellness business, Lightworks, with a focus on helping people create balanced, authentic, and fulfilling lives. Through my intuitive healing coaching, I provide clients with tools and lifestyle habits that empower them to live from their hearts while using their minds as powerful tools. I am passionate about teaching mindfulness and guiding clients to shift their thinking towards positivity and alignment with their desired life.

What makes my coaching truly unique is the personalized approach I take, blending mindfulness, wellness, vision work, and unique breathwork and meditation techniques tailored to each client’s needs. If it resonates with them, I also incorporate Reiki and their astrological birth chart energies and transits into our sessions. One of my gifts is helping others see their unconscious patterns and then change them.

In addition to coaching, I host a yearly yoga and meditation retreat in beautiful and healing locations around the world. These retreats are designed to offer a rejuvenating reset, combining yoga, meditation, Reiki, astrology, sound bowl healing, journaling, and other transformative tools. My retreats are crafted to help participants reconnect with their inner joy and authenticity, renewing their mind, body, and spirit.

Currently, I’m also working on creating online courses that focus on developing a vision for life, working with chakras, and transforming limiting beliefs into empowering ones. These courses will make my teachings accessible to a wider audience.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My advice for those who are early in their journey would be:

Meditation and mindfulness: Yoga was my first love and it completely transformed my life. Meditation and mindfulness took my transformation even deeper. Mindfulness is something our society desperately needs; it had a profound impact on my stress levels, thinking, and overall enjoyment of life. Meditation is the number one tool I recommend because its benefits are endless. My favorite aspect of meditation is that it helps you truly get to know yourself and connect with your heart. This self-awareness is imperative to living a life you truly love.

Create a vision for your life: One of the most empowering things you can do is to create a clear vision for your life. Take time to dream big and imagine what a fulfilling, joyful, and meaningful life looks like for you. Use your intuition to guide this process—your inner voice will help you uncover what truly resonates with your soul. Intuition is a powerful tool in shaping your vision because it connects you to your deepest desires and purpose. As you develop your vision, allow yourself to be both practical and inspired, setting goals that align with who you are at your core.

Live in your truth: Don’t be afraid to live authentically, even if it means stepping outside of what’s considered ‘normal’ or ‘acceptable.’ Be creative and innovative in how you express yourself. Stop caring what others think, and focus on what feels right for you. Authenticity is magnetic; it will draw the right people and opportunities to you. While some may not understand your path, many others will be inspired by it. Living in your truth not only leads to success but also fulfills a deeper need we all have to live in alignment with our true selves.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

My biggest area of growth over the last 12 months has been learning how to be more loving and compassionate with myself. I’ve made a conscious effort to integrate mindfulness breaks into my daily routine, even when I’m feeling overwhelmed or have a lot on my plate. Consistency with my morning and evening self-care routines has been crucial in nourishing both my body and mind. I’ve also focused on transforming my self-talk, shifting from being critical to being supportive and encouraging. Embracing compassion and forgiveness has profoundly changed my daily experience and overall sense of well-being. This shift in how I relate to myself has made a significant difference in how I feel and approach each day.
