Meet Jen Paul

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jen Paul. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jen , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I’ve always enjoyed a good adventure and at the age of 6 I remember hunting for golf balls near the golf course and selling them at a stand. Throughout high school and college I enjoyed taking part in groups that challenged me to grow. In college I followed in my Dad’s footsteps and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business. However, I had always felt called to be an educator. Years later, after taking a hard look at myself and working to overcome personal trauma, I returned to school to do just that. The birth of my son and his education strongly impacted me and I followed him as he became a Montessori student. I had a 15 year career as a Primary classroom educator until it was time for the next thing. I knew that I was unhappy and felt as though my soul was calling me to do something else. I followed the trail that was presented to me through various connections and began my business as a Celebrant. My business, Life Passages was born. I was a substitute teacher for the first few years to make ends meet and eventually, became full time. It was a slow transition. All of the changes I made in life and the risks I took were because of my personal grit as well as having wonderful friends and family cheering me on. Taking risks is so much easier when you have people who love you and support you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I love working with couples who want to celebrate their love and individuals who are going through a life transition. Wedding ceremonies, elopements, vow renewals, baby blessings and premarital counseling are a few examples. For individuals, gender transitions, grief or loss, crone, sage ceremonies are created for individuals and personal life coaching is also offered.
I love the creativity of my work! Each couple’s story and each individual’s journey is unique. I love watching a couple light up with love and an individual heal.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities for me have been connection to my self and my soul’s desires, introspection and determination. Each person’s journey is unique and requires their own self reflections to develop their skills.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

I always return to self introspection as well as connecting in nature. Connecting with the Earth is incredibly beneficial. I also have a earthing mat on my bed that helps me regulate. Meditation, yoga and body practices are incredibly helpful as well. I have a relationship with the Universe, God, my guides and angels and I connect frequently. Listening to positive podcasts is also helpful for me. Each person has to discover on their own what works best for them.
