We recently connected with Jen Peeples-Hampton and have shared our conversation below.
Jen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When I think of purpose, my mind and imagination pan to the word “Intention”. Intention requires me to be deliberate and action-oriented. I will say the road to purpose is almost never linear, and for my story– it has required me to design my ‘Why’ through reoccurring themes in my life. I’ve found that I am naturally drawn to philosophy, knowledge, and self-discovery. These themes or motifs are hints toward the direction you may need to explore. I’ll say how I found the initial path to my purpose is by taking time to understand who I was organically and not the persona given to me by others. Studying what courage looked like and examples of it in past history, and in the present. Toni Morrison was the first author and elder I studied. I learned that I enjoyed the process of science, and the color of art through reading her written works.
I became immersed in a world that required me to do the work. To show up for myself because no one else is required to. To embrace accountability on this solo-journey. Toni’s essay’s spoke to a soul that was curious and lost. These essay’s were ingredients to edifying the potential each of us have. What we do with this potential is our responsibility. From this, I began to apply pressure in selecting my values and architecting my life with the tools the Creator has provided me with. I researched, wrote about what I learned, and designed and prototyped my vision, and explored the opportunity that was waiting for my alignment.
Finding your purpose requires us to be still in some seasons, requires us to learn in others but most importantly, requires deliberate action once we make the conscious decision to embark on a journey of self. From there you’ll realize the answers have been with you all along.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am excited to share that I have shifted my focus towards developing my passion-project of, ‘The RWDE Method’ into a business. The RWDE Method focuses on collaborating science and art to fuel self-discovery, purpose, and elevation through Research, Writing, Design, and Exploration. Embracing the RWDE (pronounced Ride) and journey of life. I feel that this is very special because not only does it aim to give control back to individuals, but it encourages them to become the master architects of their own story, regardless of their past. It gives them the building blocks to find intention. To recreate meaning for themselves through advice, fellowship, and examples that lead to self-determining results.
I believe we live in a pre-shaped society that can either make or bend us. Make us into versions of ourselves we may not be proud of, or bend us into a point where we think we can’t come back from. It’s also for the natural philosopher that lives in each and everyone of us. The RWDE Method draws from principles of netnography/ ethnography to add meaning that develops into transformation. Netnography is framework coined by Dr. Robert Kozinets and is centered in digital qualitative data gathering to interpret and interact with online communities with the purpose of discovering the large picture thinking.
The RWDE Method is a rigorous process of self-work and an intention oriented practice that makes it less intimidating to begin or continue on the path to personal purpose. It helps the individual navigate the uncontrollable by giving them the support, resources, and encouragement towards the power they already have. Think about it as a tool you can use to block out the unnecessary noise to find yourself, your purpose, and or community.
The program is still being developed and is expected to launch in the Fall of 2028.
“Will you be ready to RWDE?”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three quality skills and areas of knowledge that have been the most impactful in my journey are:
1. Self-awareness
2. Self-regulation
3. Self-sufficiency
These have been protection, keys, and comfort in moments that have been extremely difficult. Some advice I would offer to those who are early in their journey are to always stay curious and to question the world around you. Curiosity is a sign of life. It keeps your brain young and it will put you in spaces that will elevate and nurture you. Questioning will protect you in spaces that may seem good at first glance, but you will develop discernment in moments that challenge your values, and trigger your moral compass.
Lastly, I would say being a good person gets you a long way on this journey. It is a cloak that is the icing on top. Regardless of the energies that that are in opposition of your ideals and goals, being good is the vitamin of a life well lived as well as a journey well served. When you practice these, they become apart of your toolkit for navigating life, opportunity, elevation, and community.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Felling overwhelmed is an inevitable emotion. But the beauty of this is going back to self-regulation, and questioning why you might feel this way. Was it an external event? Was it the cause of another person or group of people? An event that happened where you felt you had no control?
Whatever the cause, you have the power to respond instead of reacting. Responding requires us to be intentional about the effect. The first strategy I would recommend is concentrated breathing. This has been scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels (stress hormone). When we feel an extreme emotion such as overstimulation/overwhelment, it could be due to a lack of blood flow getting to the places it needs to go. Regular breathing facilitates the body to be in a balanced equilibrium state. The next strategy would closely follow breathing to evaluate the what. What is causing this or the potential cause. Can you remove yourself from the environment physically? Are you able to take a moment? Everyone is different, and many people have variable levels tolerance. That is ok. But if you think about it, recognizing the emotion is half the battle. That is self-awareness. For the final strategy, I would encourage the individual to come up with the last or following steps for themself. You are the grand architect. You have divine permission to create your own regiment. Provided you aren’t harming yourself or others. Think of productive ways to come back to your regulated state.
