Meet Jen Tone

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jen Tone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jen below.

Hi Jen, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

When I was around 11, my dad had a friend who produced for Nickelodeon, we visited the show one day during a live recording. I watched him produce, coordinate and handle every aspect and detail of the show that day, and I was hooked. I went to Radio/Television/Film school at University of North Texas, and I never looked back. I have worked in some form of production ever since, making my way up the chain from a Production Assistant, to a Production Manager and finally a Producer, of which I have been for almost 28 years now, and I still love every single detail of Producing. In 2021, I followed my dream of opening my own production company, 24 Seven Film, with my business partner, Scott Harben, and it has been going strong ever since. I always tell my teenage girls, do something you love for a living, and it won’t feel like work, and this is exactly that for me. It feels good to follow an 11 year old dream and actually live in it and make it come true, and I love and enjoy every single minute of it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

When we opened 24 Seven Film, it was to be a different kind of production company, housing a close team of partners that offer everything needed for productions, without having any of the agency markup. It is our goal to offer a one stop shop for agencies and direct clients, offering a wealth of creatives, even concept and copywriting when needed. We create a seamless, turn-key experience from conception to completion, with no hidden percentage fees. We believe the more money we put on the screen or page, toward the concept, the better results for our clients. We give our clients everything they ask for, as well as some things they don’t expect, making it an overall excellent experience for all. We are a nonstop, high-energy multitasking crew set to bring your project from concept, to pre-pro, to “that’s a wrap!”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance, Consistency, Professionalism, and the mind frame that our efforts will prevail for the end goal, which is the same for everyone on set. We are all there to make great work, and be the best we can be. As a producer hiring crew, I always be sure to give younger people, straight of college, or just getting into the biz all of the chances we can. It is only experience that makes us all better, and treating everyone on set equally is another great way to learn and give confidence to anyone also trying to find their journey in the business.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

24 Seven Film is always looking to collaborate with new clients or partners. We are extremely experienced in producing commercials, print ads, documentaries, short films, mini series and Brand Marketing. We also have freelance producers, Directors, one of the best DP’s, and a plethora of crew, as well as our own equipment (which includes 4 Reds, and lighting, so even if we don’t have a job in house, we can crew other jobs going on if needed.
