We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenilyn Rodriguez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jenilyn, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For years I was a performer (an actress singer spokesmodel, etc.), but some parts of the entertainment industry were not aligned for me. It’s a tough and sometimes dark or ugly business! And sometimes the art that is made is beautiful, powerful and even crucial. Something felt off and I couldn’t figure out what. I knew I needed to do something that made impact. Then I became an Spiritual healer, and that felt so right with my intuitive abilities and the need I felt to help somehow. Over a decade later, I finally found a way to marry my worlds and create change to the best of my ability! By creating my own movies through Jen X Productions & by championing films that aim to make the world a better place in Meliora International Film Festival!!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have so many ideas about the ripple effect that I want to help create! I have about a dozen trainings & certifications that I’ve earned for my Spiritual therapy practice called Starlight & Sacred Tree, including reiki energy healing & life coaching for manifestation. I also have a total life improvement company called Quadrant. I have my own production company (Jen X Productions, LLC) and now Meliora International Film Festival is launching in New York City on November 14-17th!! It feels like it’s taken a whole lifetime to get here, but everything I’ve created, I love so much.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I was 2 or 3 years old, my mother recorded me on a tape doing commercials in the bathtub – I was even switching voices and using different accents. There was no question I’d be involved in entertainment.
In third grade I discovered that I had an intuitive healing ability to help people by knowing where they had pain and why.
And I’ve always been adept at arranging and categorizing things – so event planning and producing films comes naturally to me. I need things to be organized!
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I was really lucky to have parents who are artists, or maybe I am one because it runs in the genes! Either way, I was always supported artistically and encouraged to be creative. I know not everyone has had that, and for me it was everything. If I felt like an outcast from the crowd, I knew it was because I was uniquely artistic and I felt happy with who I was. How important. Right!? They support and encourage everything I’ve created and am building.
