Meet JenLyn Ford Carey Corr

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to JenLyn Ford Carey Corr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi JenLyn Ford, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

“Being the only one in the room has taught us to master two things: presence and perspective.

When you don’t look like anyone else in the room, you learn early that you have to be the reference point, not search for one. We’ve learned to anchor in who we are, our neurodivergence, our creative lens, our refusal to conform, and let that difference become our advantage. It sharpens our instincts, our empathy, and our ability to see patterns others might overlook.

In rooms where we’ve been underestimated or misunderstood, we’ve learned to read the invisible conversation: tone, energy, body language, and use curiosity as our bridge. We’ve also made a practice of turning solitude into strategy: when there’s no blueprint, we build one; when there’s no invitation, we create a table.

Ultimately, success for us has come from realizing that ‘being the only one’ is not isolation; it’s initiation. It’s the space where originality lives, and where new stories, industries, and possibilities begin.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

“We’re building a movement disguised as a movie.”

Our work lives at the intersection of story, soul, and society. Together, we’re creating Sing Your Song, a feature film and immersive audience experience that transforms the traditional idea of filmmaking into a living, breathing ecosystem. Instead of waiting for a movie to premiere, we invite the audience to become part of the story before it’s even made.
We’re reimagining what it means to make and market art in a way that’s equitable, inclusive, and alive. It’s where cinema becomes a shared experience that travels through communities like a modern-day circus of creativity, curiosity, and connection.

What makes it exciting is that every layer, from the film to the merch to the music to the live experiences, is designed to honor the audience as co-creators of their movie experience, not consumers. We’re proving that art can be both visionary and fair-value, where everyone who touches it feels seen, valued, and part of something meaningful.

.
At the core, what we do isn’t just about film or branding; it’s about creating experiences that remind people of their own ability to change the world through authenticity, imagination, and mystery.

Because when people are brave enough to sing their song, the world changes its tune.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Vision Literacy — Seeing the Invisible.
The most powerful skill in filmmaking isn’t just seeing what’s in front of you; it’s perceiving what could be. We’ve learned to train our eyes and minds to recognize invisible connections: between people, between ideas, between the emotional and the visual. That’s how worlds are built, not from what’s obvious, but from what’s possible.
Advice: Practice curiosity like a muscle. Don’t rush to make things make sense. Sit in ambiguity long enough to find the magic that others might miss. Great cinema lives in the tension between the seen and the unseen.

2. Emotional Intelligence — Directing Human Energy.
Film is the most collaborative art form on Earth. The difference between chaos and cohesion isn’t technology, it’s emotional fluency. Understanding how to regulate energy on a set, how to listen beneath words, and how to hold creative tension without collapse; that’s leadership. It’s what allows art to move from performance to presence.
Advice: Observe more than you speak. Learn to read the room, not just the shot list. And when conflict arises, because it always does, stay curious instead of defensive. That’s how masterpieces get made.

3. Narrative Architecture — Knowing the Frame You’re In.
Every frame tells a story, but the most impactful filmmakers know how to build one, visually, emotionally, and structurally. The ability to design story worlds that feel inevitable, alive, and human is a craft that takes time, failure, and relentless fascination.
Advice: Study story across mediums; novels, paintings, architecture, conversation. The frame is everywhere. The better you understand the architecture of emotion, the more freedom you’ll have to break the rules with intention.

In the end, filmmaking and life, are about resonance. The tools evolve, the formats change, but our job remains the same: to translate the human experience into something that reminds people of their own.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

Sing Your Song is not just a film. It’s a global movement to bring a million people together through the power of story, art, and community. We’re building an audience of one million “Threadliners”, people who don’t just watch movies, but live inside them.

Right now, we’re seeking:
Visionary partners and financial backers who believe in the future of participatory, purpose-driven cinema.

Host cities and venues that want to bring the Sing Your Song experience to life once filming is complete, transforming theaters, town squares, and community spaces into immersive storytelling hubs.

Collaborators, creators, and innovators who understand that storytelling can change culture when it’s designed with equity, artistry, and collective imagination.

If you’re reading this and feel the pull, reach out. The movement is real, and the door is open.
