We were lucky to catch up with Jenn Cohen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenn , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose when I slowed down enough to witness it.
I found my purpose when I decided not to distract myself from witnessing it.
I found my purpose one evening when I was able to channel my father.
30 years ago my Dad gave me my intuitive confidence by delivering a beautiful sign the night of his funeral. I was lying down in my parents room that night – all the lights were off I called out to him and in an instant the bedside light turned on and off. I asked out loud, “Is that you Dad?” The light turned on and off and on and off. There was no doubt it was a sign to say we could still communicate.
I had not told this story to many people throughout the years for fear of being judged by those who did not believe in an intuitive sense or the possibility that we could communicate with a higher consciousness.
It would be 26 years after that first sign, that I was able to allow myself to slow down, to return to a city submerged in nature and to breathe. It didn’t take long for me to find my “purpose” as our intuition is always there just waiting for us to be aware of it. I was able to hear very clearly what my intuitive self was saying through signs, automatic writing, and “chance meetings” that guided me to starting my own business as an Intuitive Consultant and Channel.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
After 27 years in the Entertainment Industry, I walked away to launch my business as an Intuitive Consultant where I help people and companies get clear on their intuition.
Utilizing my intuition was such an essential part of my career, even though it felt like something that couldn’t be openly discussed, let alone taught or valued. I am excited to now be able to support others in accessing their intuitive abilities for everyday work/life challenges. Seeing clients gain clarity and make space for more creativity through intuitive practice is the greatest gift.
I am offering small online group channeling, please sign up for my newsletter or follow on instagram for upcoming dates.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Listening:
If you’re talking more than 50% of the time, you’re missing out on quite a bit of information. Through compassionate listening we can begin to deeply understand others, not solely with their words, but also with attuning to shared energy. This is how our 6th or Intuitive Sense receives information.
2. Trusting Your Gut:
I learned early on that if my intuition was telling me something, follow it.
3. Not having to be “right”:
The more we let go of the need to be “right,” whether facing big or small challenges, the more space we create. This space allows us to distance ourselves from the ego-driven distractions of competitiveness, fear, and anger.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
1. Pause
Notice that I am not in physical danger, I am just overwhelmed with thoughts that are focused on the future or the past.
2. Breathe
Focus on my breath – this. brings me into the present moment, where your intuition can only be accessed.
3. Prioritize based on “At this Moment/Now” – I ask myself what is the best task for me to do at this moment. The answer will come to me, and sometimes that answer is to take a nap- I have learned not to argue with the information for it always leads me to a much calmer state.
