We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenna Morcos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenna below.
Hi Jenna, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I believe our purpose in life has seasons. Growing up, I always dreamed of being a mom. From the age of five until sixteen, my family cared for foster babies, and it wasn’t unusual to see family photos of my brothers and me holding different babies. I have vivid memories of sharing my bedroom with a crib and sitting beside my mom during middle-of-the-night feedings. When I had children of my own, I stepped into the role of motherhood feeling both prepared and deeply fulfilled. Though the days were exhausting, it was the kind of tired that comes with joy and purpose—a good tired.
Through that experience, I learned to discern the difference between being tired but fulfilled and being tired and drained. While I enjoyed a successful career in pharmacy, my true passion during that season was motherhood. As my children grew and became more independent, I treasured the time I spent fulfilling that purpose, all the while sensing that new chapters and purposes would emerge. The turning point came on my 50th birthday, the day the pharmacy I worked for closed and I found myself at a crossroads. It was bittersweet—letting go of a career I’d built for years and stepping into the unknown.
That transition sparked a deep period of searching, as I worked to uncover what truly inspired me. The idea of a salt cave kept surfacing, initially as a passing thought but growing into something I couldn’t ignore. I began to realize how deeply I cared about creating a space for others to relax, heal, and reconnect with themselves. That sincerity became the foundation for Salt & Souls, where I now get to live my purpose in this season of life by helping others healing in mind, body, and spirit.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a pharmacist with nearly 25 years of experience in retail, hospital, and long-term care settings. Over the years, I developed a passion for wellness and felt drawn to combine the world of medicine with natural therapies. My first experience in a salt cave came during a challenging time in my life, as I was navigating a divorce. I visited a salt cave in Asheville, seeking a moment of peace amidst the chaos, and left feeling deeply grounded, clear, and rejuvenated. That experience stayed with me, and I knew I wanted to create a similar sanctuary where others could find calm and healing.
At Salt & Souls, we offer a range of holistic services, with halotherapy at the core of what we do. Halotherapy, or salt therapy, involves breathing in dry salt aerosol in a controlled environment, which helps clear the airways, reduce inflammation, and promote deep relaxation. We also offer facials, massage therapy, and energy healing, each designed to complement the benefits of halotherapy and provide a complete wellness experience. Our services are tailored to help clients unwind and reconnect with themselves in a peaceful, intentional setting.
We’re excited to offer events that further enhance the wellness experience, including halotherapy combined with yoga, sound baths, acupuncture for deep relaxation, and intention-setting workshops. We’re currently in a soft opening for the salt cave, with our Grand Opening celebration set for December 8, 2024, from 12-4 pm.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One of the most important qualities has been learning to trust myself. There’s no manual for everything in life, especially when you’re stepping into new territory. When I left my pharmacy career to open Salt & Souls, I wasn’t always sure of the next step, but I had to trust that I was making the right decisions based on what felt right for me. I’ve discovered that things are revealed when you need them to be. I’m glad I don’t have the whole picture when I start, because I might not have stepped into my path out of fear or frustration. But I always was sure of the next step and that’s what I focused on.
Another quality has been listening to my gut. Sometimes things don’t make logical sense at first, but I’ve learned that my intuition knows more than I give it credit for. In moments of uncertainty, I’ve found that if I just pause and tune into what feels right, I’m usually pointed in the right direction, even if it takes a little time for the path to become clear.
And lastly, there’s no shame in asking for help, especially from experts in areas where you might not have the experience. I lean heavily on the advice of people who had the knowledge I didn’t. They helped me navigate things like design, leases and marketing. That kind of guidance made the process smoother and ultimately led to a better outcome than if I tried to do it all alone.
For anyone starting out, I’d say trust where your heart is leading you, be willing to learn from those who know more than you, and most importantly—don’t be afraid to take the leap, even when the road ahead isn’t totally clear.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I believe it’s a bit of both. I began this journey of opening a business thinking I needed to know and do it all. And for awhile, I was able to invest time and energy into learning new things, such as how to create an LLC, paying sales tax, learning a new software, how to onboard employees, and what is a halogenerator? But, there came a point where I felt I was in over my head, such as procuring a space and negotiating a lease. Not only did I not have the time, energy or bandwidth to learn the nuances, but I potentially could sign a lease that is unknowingly not to my benefit. In situation like this, I learn the overview so I’m not completely clueless, but I hired a consulting team to help me navigate the process and protect me. They had my back and my best interest and I needed to leave it to the experts. The same thing with PR and marketing. I spent about 5 hours trying to pen a press release. At the end I had a press release but I didn’t know if it was good or what to do with it next. I could’ve used that 5 hours doing something else. I have dopted a rule of thumb: know how much your time is worth, can you pay someone else to do it faster and better than you, and allow others to be in their lane of genius so that you can stay in yours. Ultimately, anything I invest my time and energy in may or may not be a strength, but it will be something I’m passionate about, such as connecting with others and sharing in their path to wellness.
