We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennfer Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennfer below.
Jennfer, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
For a long time, I woke up every day feeling like I was just going through the motions. I had responsibilities, I had people depending on me, but inside I felt directionless — like I was living, but not really living with purpose. It wasn’t until I hit a point where everything felt too heavy that I finally did something simple but life-changing: I went back to God.
I opened my Bible again, not out of routine, but out of desperation for clarity and peace. And as I started applying His word to my life — really applying it — something shifted. Scriptures I’d heard a thousand times suddenly spoke directly to me. I began seeing myself the way God saw me, not through the lens of my past, my mistakes, or what life had taken me through.
Purpose didn’t show up overnight. It revealed itself piece by piece, in quiet moments, in answered prayers, and even in the people God placed in my path. I realized that everything I had survived wasn’t meant to break me — it was shaping me to serve, to support, and to show others what hope looks like in real life.
Finding my purpose felt less like discovering something new and more like coming home to who I was always meant to be. And once I aligned myself with God again, the direction I’d been searching for finally became clear.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
By profession, I serve as a Qualified Professional for the NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) team and as a QP in Intensive In-Home therapy. My role includes supporting Peer Support Specialists, guiding service teams, ensuring quality documentation, and helping families stay connected to consistent, person-centered mental health support. I also hold credentials as a Forensic Peer Support Specialist, NC Certified Peer Support Specialist, and NC Community Health Worker I — all of which allow me to bridge lived experience with professional practice.
Through my personal business, Lennix James LLC, I work as a Person-Centered Plan Consultant, helping agencies strengthen their plans and improve how services are delivered. Lennix James LLC™ is also my mental-health advocacy center, where I focus on community outreach, resource education, and breaking stigma through real conversations and support.
I’m an author and the host of the Empowering Minds Mental Health Podcast™, where I bring everyday stories, mental-health topics, and personal growth conversations to the forefront. Everything I do — professionally and through my brand — is rooted in compassion, authenticity, and a commitment to uplifting individuals and families who often feel unseen.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Compassion has carried me the furthest. When you’ve lived through your own storms, you show up for people differently. My advice: don’t hide your story—use it.
Staying teachable has kept me growing. In this field, things change fast, and you have to be willing to learn, unlearn, and learn again. My advice: stay curious and never stop asking questions.
Connection is everything. Whether I’m supervising staff, supporting families, or advocating in the community, real change comes from real relationships. My advice: be present, be honest, and build trust through consistency.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
“Be YOUnique: Overcoming the ODDS!” by Dr. Lashaundon Perkins really pushed me to look at my life differently. It reminded me that your journey is yours to own — the lessons, the pain, the victories, all of it. One thing that stuck with me was the idea that you can’t keep dragging old hurt into new seasons and expect to grow. At some point, you have to say ‘yes’ to yourself and commit to becoming who you were meant to be.
Another powerful takeaway for me was accountability — not the kind that beats you up, but the kind that pushes you forward. Dr. Perkins makes you feel seen and challenged at the same time, and she has a way of meeting you right where you are. The book reminded me that I wasn’t just built to survive what I’ve been through…I was chosen to rise from it.
