Meet Jennifer Ayeni

We recently connected with Jennifer Ayeni and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I was raised on a farm in the country. I spent my childhood in the Ozarks in southern Missouri and my teen years in the Appalachian mountains in Eastern Kentucky. I had to get up and bottle-feed the baby calves before going to school. My dad taught me that hard work builds character, that I should never give up, and there’s always a way to make it work! Building a fence, hauling wood, and detasseling corn was not for me but it built an appreciation for a dollar. I was 12 and in the 7th grade when I got my first official paycheck at minimum wage for detasseling corn and I cashed it all in one-dollar bills to see my hard-earned work. I discovered as a child that farm life was not for me and I wanted an indoor career.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Fizz Facial Bar breaks all the rules of a traditional spa. We are an open-concept studio giving our clients effective, affordable skin care treatments in about 30 minutes. We believe skin care shouldn’t be a luxury but it should be accessible to everyone! If you have a face, you need a facial! The vibe at Fizz is upbeat and friendly never intimidating or overwhelming. We keep it easy for our clients; we’re skin care to the point. We’ve created an environment that brings people together at the bar for a unique, fun, social, facial experience. We love facial parties whether it’s for a girls’ night out, a birthday, or client wellness events. Our “bubble lounge” is our official party room that’s perfect with a disco ball and you can stream your favorite playlist to set the mood! When I see people experience results that boost their self-confidence or connect with their teen over a facial, it warms my heart and brings a smile to my face.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Take a step of faith! Over analysis leads to paralysis. Surround yourself with like-minded, make it happen people. Distance yourself from the naysayers. Think outside the box! Get creative, play with your business, find what works and what doesn’t! Give yourself grace and remember mistakes point you a new direction. Everything is figureoutable!
