We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jennifer Kyser a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I am so focused on making people happy and creating memories that I draw my motivation and creativity from that. I am always thinking of new ways to wow my customers! I love seeing what excites my customers-whether it’s a nostalgic favorite, a trendy new treat or a fun service that I can provide. The joy and reactions I get from people keep me inspired to make every experience special and fun!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Creating Sweet Memories One Popsicle at a Time! I own a mobile ice cream catering business since 2006, that turns any event into a fun memorable experience. Whether it’s a birthday party, wedding, corporate event or community gathering. I bring the joy of delicious frozen treats right to you. What makes my business special is the nostalgia and excitement that an ice cream truck creates-for both kids and adults! The best part of what I do is seeing the smiles, laughter and pure happiness that ice cream brings to people. It’s more than just dessert-it’s about creating unforgettable moments one popsicle at a time!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities for running my ice cream truck catering business are creativity, customer service and adaptability. Creativity helps me come up with new and different ways to provide service for example, bringing characters to birthday parties, Excellent customer service is key because my business is all about making people happy and creating a great experience. Lastly, adaptability is crucial since I cater to different types of events, handle unpredictable weather, and navigate various locations while keeping everything running smoothly.
The advice I would give for anyone early in their career would be: don’t be afraid to try new things, always make your customer feel special, and don’t give up despite challenges you will face.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My husband has been the most helpful person, hands down! I could not have asked for a better partner, in life and in business. And I would like to give a shout out to Marco from the auto repair shop. We had an older truck that broke down on us so many times when we first started out and he not only got us back on the road each and every time, but he stayed positive and was very motivational. He kept me focused and on track. Very blessed to have him in my life.
