Meet Jennifer Marnowski

We recently connected with Jennifer Marnowski and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I had worked for years as a journalist, including 10 years at CNN. I always wore many hats and was always interested in healthcare stories as well as all the daily top stories. Mental health and substance use issues run in my family and I went into that field after over 20 years in TV News. I combined my many years of experience in both fields to take a leap and start my own PR business focusing on wellness, behavioral health and other healthcare topics. That is my lane and to be able to spread hope and advice through what I do is a very rewarding experience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve worked in the wellness field (mental health, whole body health, brain health and substance use disorders) for the last 7 years in communications, PR/Media, and business development. And I am a journalist who worked in TV News for 20 years before that, from the time I was 18 years old, including 10 years as an Executive Producer at CNN. I know how to get people noticed and get airtime.

All of this also taught me how to write content; content for wide audiences that’s digestible and again gets your “why,” services and message across.

Most people in this line of work don’t have that inside knowledge from both fields. It makes a difference, and I can make a difference for individuals and companies alike.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’m a naturally curious person and my journalism experience taught me so many things. I was learning every day, still am. And whether that’s learning about a topic for a segment I have an expert doing on mental health, learning about a drug out there that we need to educate the public on, or teaching a media audience about the brain gut connection all of this is about learning. And it’s about getting out the word to the masses which I what I’m the expert in.
I’m also a good communicator and a good writer/coach for experts which adds to my ability to get PR for clients in these lanes.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Mel Robbin’s books have really made an impression on me. They gave me the courage to do what I want to do, and to take that leap. She’s also an ordinary person who faces obstacles like all of us. And I think her “realness” is what I really connect with. Her first book is “The 5 Second Rule.” Her books are about personal development which I now try to work at consistently, sometimes I falter, but always know when I get back into it, it’s amazing how much it can help me. There are other authors who teach empowerment out there and I’d say they’ve all taught me a lot.

No credits, my friend took the picture and gave me permission to use it. Feel free to crop it. My new headshots will be done soon so I can add that when I get them. I don’t like my old headshots so this picture I hope is enough.
