Jennifer, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Developing my confidence and self-esteem has been a journey that closely aligns with the growth of Ugly Dog Adventures. Initially, I found confidence through action. The more I immersed myself in dog training and pack walks, the more skilled and capable I felt. It’s all about stepping into challenges, even when they seem daunting.

Additionally, the feedback from our clients has been incredibly affirming. Seeing the tangible results of our work, watching dogs transform and owners happy, really bolstered my belief in what we do. It’s hard not to feel confident when you see positive impacts unfold right in front of you.

Lastly, learning from notable individuals in the dog industry, especially those that specialized in properly socializing dogs, has been instrumental. Their expertise and encouragement have pushed me to elevate my standards and believe in my ability to lead and innovate in the dog training industry. It’s a combination of facing your fears, celebrating small victories, and having strong support that has built my confidence over the years.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

At Ugly Dog Adventures, we specialize in transforming the way dogs and their owners experience the world together. Our focus is on large-scale pack walks, behavior modification, and a comprehensive board and train program. What’s truly exciting about our approach is the depth of connection and understanding we foster between dogs and their human families. We believe every interaction is an opportunity to strengthen this bond, and watching a dog’s confidence grow within the pack setting is incredibly rewarding.

One of the most special aspects of our work is the community we’ve built. We’re not just training dogs; we’re creating a supportive network of pet owners who share a deep love and respect for their canine companions. This community spirit is palpable during our pack walks and events, where everyone works together to support each dog’s journey towards becoming a well-adjusted member of society.

We’re also excited about our new initiative, the Owner’s Club, which allows dog owners to actively participate in our pack walks. This program offers a hands-on experience in dog socialization and training under the guidance of our expert team. It’s designed to empower owners by providing them with practical skills and knowledge to continue their dog’s education at home.

Additionally, we are currently exploring options to expand our services to include more personalized training solutions and interactive online resources to reach dog owners on a broader scale. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for accessible, high-quality dog training that owners can trust, wherever they are.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey with Ugly Dog Adventures, I can pinpoint three key areas that have been instrumental in shaping my path: resilience, understanding canine behavior, and community engagement.

Resilience has been crucial. The world of dog training and entrepreneurship is full of unexpected challenges. From handling difficult behavioral cases to navigating the ups and downs of running a business, the ability to bounce back and learn from each experience has propelled me forward. For those just starting, my advice is to view every setback as a stepping stone. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow and refine your approach.

Understanding canine behavior deeply has allowed me to connect with dogs and their owners on a more profound level. This expertise is the foundation of effective training. It’s not just about teaching commands, but understanding the ‘why’ behind behaviors. For newcomers to the field, I recommend investing time in education—attend workshops, read extensively, and work under experienced mentors. The more you understand, the better you can tailor your methods to each dog’s needs.

Community engagement has enriched our mission tremendously. Building relationships within the local and online pet communities has not only expanded our reach but has also provided invaluable support and feedback. To those at the beginning of their careers, don’t underestimate the power of your community. Engage actively—whether it’s through social media, community events, or collaborations with other local businesses. These connections can offer support, inspiration, and opportunities for growth.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that we are franchising Ugly Dog Adventures. This new venture will allow people all over the country to use the Ugly Dog Adventures model to start their own large-scale pack walk and training company. It’s a significant step towards extending our passion and proven methods to a wider audience, empowering more entrepreneurs to create thriving, community-focused dog training businesses.
