Meet Jennifer Roth

We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Roth recently and have shared our conversation below.

firstName}, thank you so much for agreeing to talk with us about a deeply personal and sensitive topic. Postpartum depression affects so many in the community and hearing from someone who has overcome PPD might help someone who is going through it right now. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience

For me, overcoming postpartum depression was a slow unraveling and a powerful rebuilding.

I realized I was carrying a lot of suppressed anger and grief about the changes and sacrifices that motherhood required of me. After having four children, I felt like I had disappeared inside the role of parenting. I loved my family deeply, but I didn’t give myself permission to pursue my own desires. I believed I existed for everyone else and that belief slowly drained the life out of me.

My healing began when I finally allowed myself to acknowledge what I was feeling. I let myself feel the anger, the grief, and the parts of me that were mourning everything I had set aside. And then I started taking small, intentional steps toward reclaiming what I wanted for my own life.

I surrounded myself with inspiring women and supportive people who reminded me what was possible. They encouraged me, lifted me, and helped me breathe life back into the dreams I had buried. Bit by bit, I rebuilt myself and I did it while still parenting and showing my children firsthand what it looks like when a woman follows her calling.

I turned my pain into purpose. I began helping other women see and feel their own magic through symbolic photography and deep, empowering conversations. Every creative session, every woman I supported, became part of my healing. With each story shared and each moment captured, I reclaimed more of myself.

I didn’t just overcome postpartum depression, I transformed through it. And today, that journey is the foundation of the work I do and the woman I’ve become.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder of Gaia Dawn Studios, where I combine Goddess photography with Earth-centered personal growth mentorship to support women in reconnecting with their power, their purpose, and their most authentic selves.

I believe every woman carries her own deep inner knowing, shaped by her experiences, choices, and connection to the natural world. Through symbolic, intuitive photography, I create sacred spaces where women are truly seen and celebrated. These sessions are transformational, they help women reclaim parts of themselves that may have been overlooked or suppressed, and the images become mirrors of their strength, courage, and vitality.

What excites me most is the alchemy that happens when inner work meets creative expression. My mentorship guides women to move through old patterns, honor their desires, and embrace the boldness required to step into their next chapter. Pairing that work with photography gives women a tangible way to see and feel their transformation in real time.

Gaia Dawn Studios is more than a brand, it’s a space for courage, creativity, and transformation. Everything I create, from portrait sessions and mentorship to seasonal offerings, is designed to help women step into their bold journeys, reclaim their voice, and recognize the power they already hold.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were self-awareness, courage, and creative embodiment.

Self-awareness allowed me to recognize the parts of myself I had suppressed. My anger, grief, and desires. It helped me understand how those feelings were shaping my life. Without acknowledging them, I couldn’t have taken the steps toward real transformation.

Courage was essential in stepping into what I truly wanted for myself, even when it felt uncomfortable, risky, or selfish. After having four children, claiming space for my dreams required me to push past fear and societal expectations and trust my own inner compass.

Creative embodiment, bringing inner growth into tangible, creative expression, helped me integrate my healing in a visible, empowering way. Through photography, ritual, and mentorship, I could experience and reflect my transformation in real time, and that process became a vehicle for both personal and professional growth.

For anyone beginning their own journey, I’d say it’s about learning to show up for yourself, even when it feels hard. Slow down, notice what you feel, honor it, and give yourself permission to explore your desires. Lean into discomfort, trust your own wisdom, and find ways to bring your growth into action through creativity, expression, or service to others. Transformation becomes most powerful when it’s felt, lived, and expressed.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is a woman who’s navigating a season of change or growth. She might be stepping into new chapters of life, rediscovering herself after motherhood, or simply craving a deeper connection with her own desires and potential. She feels a pull to step into a bolder, more authentic version of herself and is ready to embrace the inner work that requires.

She’s drawn to nature, the rhythms of the seasons, and the ways we can learn from the cycles of life. She’s curious about self-awareness, embodiment, and reflection, and she’s open to exploring these in a way that feels meaningful and grounded.

She values experiences that allow her to reclaim her voice, her creativity, and her personal power. Whether through symbolic photography, ritual, journaling, or other forms of creative expression. She is ready to confront old patterns and limiting beliefs, knowing that transformation comes from both feeling deeply and taking intentional steps forward.

She also has an appreciation for beauty, symbolism, and meaningful experiences. She wants to see and feel her growth in tangible ways and seeks guidance, support, and inspiration as she steps fully into her bold journey.
