Meet Jennifer Smith

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Smith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.

Jennifer, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I am definitely guilty of having imposter syndrome whether it’s comparing my business to celebrity businesses or having a mom body instead of a model body. I feel it’s natural to have those feelings. The key for me is how I handle those feelings. I have to place God in the forefront of my mind, heart and life in order to see how grateful I am for what I have, things I’ve accomplished and my village. Comparing yourself to others isn’t realistic. People make the world go around. We can’t be the same. Everyone’s business can’t be on top. There won’t be room to grow if we’re all the same. So this is how I overcame the imposter syndrome. I’m going to continue to show up for myself, my family, my customers and most importantly put God first in everything I do. Allow God to lead me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a Jacksonville native, born and raised. I have 3 kids, ages 21,17 and 2. I have 2 bachelor degrees: Community Health and Registered Nurse. I worked as a high school teacher for 6 years. While teaching, I went back to school for Nursing. Nursing is my passion. I’m a Registered Nurse. I’ve been a nurse for 11 years. I work travel nurse assignments. I’ve worked in Texas, California, Oklahoma, Illinois, New Mexico and various cities in Florida. I love my career.

I have a vegan skincare line called Magnate Beauty. We provide products for all skin types and tones. Services include one one one skin consultations and lash application. The company’s 4 year anniversary is coming up in October so I’m planning for that event.

I have a mobile healthcare company called The Right Medical Solution. Services include blood draws, vaccines, health and wellness education, community services, CPR/BLS classes and APD medication administration training.

I am an author of a book called “Stay On Your Birth Control”. This book is an awareness of how single parenthood could potentially affect the parent and child’s life. There are testimonies from single moms, single dads and a single mom after divorce. Then of course there is education info about different birth control options, medicinal and non-medicinal.

You may be wondering how I keep everything in order. The answer is a calendar. Lol

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My best 3 qualities I have is self-confidence, quick learner and not afraid to be different. My biggest advice for anyone wanting to start a business, go to nursing school or whatever it is you want to do, just don’t give up. Make sure your mindset is focused on your goals and plans, not anyone else’s. Make sure you place yourself around like minded people who are legit and passionate about educating others. Let God lead your life. When I tried to force situations, they never turned out right. I didn’t slow down and allow God to lead. Everything will be on His timing, not yours.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m definitely looking for people to collaborate with. Whether it’s me coming to speak to an audience on any topic or teaching skincare, I’m looking to collaborate and expand my businesses.

Magnate Beauty: I’m looking to have my products on the shelves of different stores. I can teach about skincare techniques and lash application. Self-esteem conversations because some people don’t like how they look due to skin concerns. I can help you.

The Right Medical solution: I’m looking to partner with staffing agencies, trucking companies, warehouses, etc to complete their health assessments and onboarding. I’d like to attend community events and offer free glucose testing, cholesterol testing and blood pressure readings. I can talk about any health topic and how to overcome obstacles to be your best self.

Author of my book: I’d love to do a book tour speaking to our youth. Let’s have uncomfortable conversations about relationships, sexuality, how to love yourself and foster healthy relationships. I want to educate about the different types of birth control options for men and women. Ideal audience kidless men and women ages 16 and up.
