We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jennifer Vierge Baptiste a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer Vierge, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Personal discipline and creative acquaintances keep my creativity alive whenever I feel stifled.
A set routine of daily goals keeps me on track, so that I’m always sharing content even when I’m not operating at 100%. That can range from my daily social posts, to my weekly writing submissions, or occasional consignment inquiries.
Seeing my peers thrive at their passions also gets me motivated to creatively produce at a steady pace.
Sometimes it manifests as I listen to the wisdom of a fellow small business vendor at an art market and then I later create new designs with innovative marketing tools. Other times it looks like writing a new poem or children’s story after hearing an author friend read their content aloud. Or, from time to time it will resemble completing additional training with the encouragement of my coaches in voiceover or acting to stay refreshed and prepared for upcoming bookings.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a small business owner, writer and actress; I am focused on work that involves creative expression and connecting with people. I specialize in content related to writing, books, and travel with my brand of “WheresMsB” on social media. A play on my name, Jennifer “Miss B” Baptiste.
Shop WheresMsB is my stationery and accessory collection that I currently operate online and through monthly Art Market Pop Up Booths around the Los Angeles area. I draw each captivating design and prepare it with a short story that inspired me to create it. I’m very excited to have expanded into consignment with a local bookshop called The Pop Hop by displaying my blank hardcover journals, postcards, and spiral notebooks.
I am well known as “Miss B” among my writing colleagues and enjoy adding to the literary culture of my peers through various activities. Occasionally you’ll see my latest poetry publication or open mic appearance around the greater Los Angeles area. You can also find my weekly “One Minute Book Chat” videos on Youtube, Tiktok, and Instagram. Being a former school librarian, I love sharing fun literacy videos and connecting with great authors.
WheresMsB is my social media platform where I share books, day trips and my personality. When the opportunities arise, I also share glimpses of my entertainment bookings. I am excited to celebrate my recent signing with Tiffin Creative Talent, a SAG-Aftra franchised agency that is motivating me to showcase my skills as a voiceover artist, commercial actress, and model.
I love the path I’m on right now in life!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say my resilience, kindness, and ambition have impacted my journey the most. I don’t mind trying things many times till I get them right, I embrace my warm-heartedness to connect with others compassionately, and I have the confidence to go for what I want.
I would advise anyone that’s just starting out to just start, believe in yourself, have your goal set, ask for help, and pay attention to any information you receive to achieve your idea of success in the most efficient and enjoyable way so that you can be happy living your origin story in the making.
Take action and do one thing each day that will make your dreams a reality.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am definitely looking for people to collaborate with in the areas of literacy, small business expansion, entertainment content, and travel.
I look forward to communicating with traditional presses on acquiring my children’s books manuscripts for publication, producing video content with other creators, brand partnerships, entertainment bookings, and expanding into additional consignment deals with local shops or literacy events through Shop WheresMsB® stationery items.
