Meet Jenny Castro

We recently connected with Jenny Castro and have shared our conversation below.

Jenny, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from past experiences of hardships that I’ve gone through both professionally and personally. I also think some people are just naturally born with resilience and ambition and I would consider myself one of those people. I’m always striving to better myself and enrich my life skills, education, and work skills in any way that I can. Having a strong passion for life and striving for success is important as well. I would add I’ve always approached things with an optimistic outlook but also have learned to proceed with caution when it comes to taking on new ventures or forming new alliances and working relationships.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am currently an entertainment and lifestyle journalist and write for a variety of publications where I conduct book reviews and interview a variety of personalities in various industries. My curiosity and strong passion for authentic storytelling comes naturally and fuels my creativity. I absolutely love creative writing and the journalistic side to editorial work as well. In addition to writing I have also taken on a new venture of public relations coordinator with a local fashion week/organization in my city where I will be profiling local designers and coordinating media relations.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

When I look back, I think 3 qualities that were most impactful in my journey was the fact I remained resilient, ambitious, and excited. Instead of letting bad times and uncertainty bring me to failure, I kept on moving and knew better things were to come. For people that are starting their careers or education, I would remain determined to find your passion and purpose, and sometimes you have to go through challenges or hiccups when trying to find your place. Always set yourself up for success when you can by taking new courses, education, and find ways to better your skills. Network with others who can help you in your journey.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

If anyone wants to collaborate on an editorial piece, I would be willing to work with them. At the moment, my focus is on writing on the entertainment industry for an LA based publication, and also highlighting the Latino community for a Hispanic based publication. I can also collab on creative writing pieces, bridal editorial, and PR related work.
