Meet Jenny Uribe

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenny Uribe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenny below.

Jenny, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I actually get asked this question fairly often, and I believe my resilience comes from a few reasons. First, I truly believe in myself, even on days when it’s tough and it feels far from the truth. I trust that if I set my mind to something, especially if I’m passionate about it, I can achieve it. Another reason is that I have a clear vision of how I want my life to look in the future. I know it will take hard work to get there, but that vision keeps me going. A quote I came across a few years ago resonates with me: ‘Talent is nothing without dedication and discipline, and dedication and discipline are talents in themselves.’ I believe in this wholeheartedly and remind myself of it often.

There are also times when the world itself seems to offer no other option but to be resilient. Life can throw curveballs, and you either find a way to keep moving forward or get stuck. In those moments, my resilience is less of a choice and more of a necessity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I started my lashing business, UriLuxe Aesthetics, two years ago this month. While I offer a small range of services, lash extensions are the main focus. I’m committed to providing a luxurious and relaxing experience for every client. I’m really excited about some changes coming in 2025. One of them is increasing my availability, so clients will have more options to choose from. Additionally, I plan to introduce additional services, transforming UriLuxe Aesthetics into a one-stop destination for most of your beauty needs. Lastly, I’m hoping to offer educational courses for aspiring lash artists this year as well!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Apart from education, I would say the top three qualities needed as a lash artist are customer service skills, self-discipline, and organizational skills.

Customer service plays a huge role in this industry. Providing top-notch service to both potential and returning clients is essential. This extends to how you communicate with clients, even via text. I believe this skill alone can set you apart from other artists and can lead to success much quicker.

Self-discipline is another significant trait needed for anyone striving to achieve goals—not just as a lash artist. It’s a challenging skill to develop, but it’s essential. It helps you stay accountable and focused on showing up for yourself and your goals.

Organizational skills are key to making your life easier. As a solo artist, there’s a lot to juggle, and it’s easy to lose track of things if you’re not organized. Personally, I write down everything I need to accomplish for the month and then break it down into weekly tasks based on their priority.

Just as important as these skills are, remember that we’re only human, and there will be off days from time to time. The goal, however, is to improve and be better every day.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I think it really depends on the person and the situation. Speaking for myself, I lean towards wanting to be more well-rounded and improve in areas where I’m not as strong. That doesn’t mean I need to be an expert in those areas, but having a better understanding makes me feel more confident in myself and the decisions I make.

For example, I know some girls who went straight to becoming solo artists after finishing esthetician school, and they’ve thrived ever since—kudos to them! For me, though, that would’ve given me a panic attack just thinking about it. I knew I wanted to gain more experience first and learn as much as I could before taking the leap to go off on my own. Some might call it playing it safe, but I believe there’s nothing wrong with that approach.
