We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jerame Mudick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jerame, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
The hardest part of overcoming imposter syndrome is first acknowledging that you have it. It often takes open conversation about your current struggles and having a good listener nearby. I just assumed the way I felt was normal. I felt undeserving of all that I had achieved because of the hidden beliefs I have lived with.
Once I was confronted about my lack of “speaking up” and/or “putting myself out there more” I was faced with the truth that I have been the only thing holding me and my company back. I consistently struggled with “why me? why not somebody else?”. I can imagine these are similar questions others have struggled with. But the change happened once I looked in the mirror with the question that a friend asked me…”why not?”.
I was reminded of my company motto “You are the cause. You are the cure”. I am the blockade, and I am the one to clear the path. The next steps were simply visualizing myself as the person accepting all that was in front of me and walking in that light. I started embodying it and believe it was ok to do.
That was internal work I have skipped and looked over. But it took someone hearing me and telling me straight up that it’s time to step into that light and to continue asking myself “why not me?”. That acceptance is the day I overcame imposter syndrome and I’m never turning back.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the founder and owner of Re|Connect Mind Body in Mesa, AZ. I have been in the health and wellness industry for 16 years stemming from personal training to biomechanics. My journey began evolving into overall mental, physical, and spiritual health through the power of mindful awareness practices, breathwork, and ice baths. Which is where the life of Re|Connect Mind Body was born.
I have the most incredible staff that has taken all the knowledge passed on to them, to the next level. We have formed a community of all peoples who come for their own reasons but tend to find themselves along their journey with us.
Watching the growth of each person unfold before our eyes is something you cannot explain in words but no that it fills my heart every story I hear.
With the growth of our community, it has allowed for a beautiful expansion of Re|Connect into the unit next door to us where we have created a beautiful space for our breathwork/sound bath classes. In this space we are expanding our education side of things and introducing more classes. I will not only be teaching our current breathwork classes but also a breathing mechanics class which will help everyone in all walks of life breathe better overall in daily life and activities. As well as a self-myofascial release class. This class will be teaching everyone how to not only relieve tension in the body but also hydrate your tissues to improve your overall health and wellbeing.
I am also offering a certification for anyone who aims to teach breathwork and/or for their own personal practice. The certification will be my entire self-created method of breathwork and meditation.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe the first quality to obtain is consistency. No matter what your goals or dreams are, the actions that get you there must have consistent effort to make them a reality. Through consistency, you begin to create new habits and can weave out the ones that do not serve you.
Second, is follow through. Your ability to follow through on what you set out to do is vital to your success no matter how big or small. Without follow through, all of your efforts will simply be partial attempts. These partial attempts will slowly shatter your confidence and drive. But when we can create some form of organization or list taking that will help with your follow through, you will experience confidence with each completion.
Lastly, is belief. Belief comes after your consistent efforts to follow through on what you set out to do. Many of us struggle to alter limiting beliefs within ourselves because we simply don’t know how. But once we understand that the subconscious programs rooted within us that say we can’t do something, begin to lose power once we start completing tasks that we set out to do. We begin to rewrite the stories that we have been told and have told ourselves for all of these years. One follow through moment at a time and remain consistent in your actions will instill new beliefs in that YOU CAN DO IT.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The most impactful book I have read that helped completely transform my way of thinking is Atomic Habits by James Clear. This book is a very simple read with some immediate applicable exercises. The statement that changed it all for me was a section early on the book where he gives an example of how we identify ourselves and how that directly impacts our actions.
I used to tell myself and those around me that I was a night owl and not a morning person. This repetitive statement I made for as many years as I can remember instilled a belief within myself that no matter what, when it came morning time, I would be tired. As well as when it would be nighttime, I would be full energy and didn’t want to go to bed at a decent time. This typically would set me up for a rough morning every day fighting to get myself together. If I had to get up early for a workout or for work, there was absolutely a long nap involved with this day.
Once I read this book, I recognized how often I did things of this nature. So, for an entire day I put it to test. I started my day with prayer and meditation to follow. In this meditation I was convincing myself that “I am a morning person” and I wake with full energy ready to take on the day. Every hour of that entire day I would pause for a moment and say it to myself internally and verbally. I even held conversations throughout the day telling people that I am a morning person and I wake up full of energy, they laughed of course because they all knew me.
Well, sure enough I woke the next morning 8minutes before my 4:00am alarm full of energy! I have never woken up that early for a regular day of work and here I am wide awake!
So, I kept that regime for about 6 months before I had a schedule change. But it all came down to take the understanding of this book and applying to my life immediately which in turn gave me immediate results.
