We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeremiah Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeremiah below.
Jeremiah, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I definitely got my work ethic from my dad. He is the hardest-working person I’ve ever met. He is constantly up before 5 am to hit the gym before work. After the gym, he’ll work long hours into the night. As a kid, I didn’t always appreciate this. But now looking back I see how much he sacrificed so his kids were able to pursue whatever dream they wanted.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am from Seattle, Washington, and moved to LA 8 months ago to further pursue modeling and acting. I have been modeling and commercial acting for 6 years now, and it has been an amazing journey. I have a bachelor’s degree in film as well, which I received from Central Washington University. I have three sisters who are my best friends. A large part of what I do is for them. I just want to be able to show them that anything is possible. They lit a fire under me every time I think about chilling or being lazy. I am signed with 4 major modeling agencies around the United States. I’ve shot campaigns for names like Adidas and Nordstrom. As well as shot commercials for Buick and Free Country. The most special part about modeling is being on set. Having a blast doing what I love while cultivating relationships through out the shoot is the best feeling in the world.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One that helped me the most is that I fell in love with the gym and reading. As a model & actor, you must keep your body and brain sharp. It can be easy for some people to just lounge around until another shoot comes up. Use that time between shoots to get ahead, and sharpen other areas of your life. Another skill is to fall in love with people. Learn their names, remember them, and start to build meaningful relationships. Lastly, would just be to do it. When I didn’t know where I wanted to go after college, I said I’ll just move to LA. There will always be an excuse not too, and then another one. So if you have a dream you want to chase, just do it. Its cliche but the only option.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
There are a few books that have transformed my mindset. “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson, and then “Ego is the Enemy” and “The Obstacle is the Way” by Ryan Holiday. These three books will make your life and career indescribably better. In my career there is a lot of rejection, these books teach you that it’s part of the journey and to embrace it. Stop caring about every little thing, do your best and the rest isn’t up to you. Don’t take rejection personally. What stands in the way, becomes the way. If something is for you, then it will be. You have to loosen your grip on the steering wheel of life to have a better ride.
