Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeremiah Flomo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jeremiah, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I draw my resilience from the people in my life—family, siblings, and friends. Life, in my experience, offers the time to pursue passions, and I derive inspiration from observing those around me. A younger sibling has profoundly influenced my world, making life better. Without her, I’m uncertain how far I’d have come.
I’m currently working on a mini-documentary titled ‘A Kid Who Shaped Me,’ exploring the impact of having a little sister on my life, particularly in my visual and cinematographic pursuits. Despite the support of family and friends, she remains my primary reason not to give up easily. It’s remarkable how a child can be such a powerful source of motivation.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Jeremiah Flomo, and I am a photographer and cinematographer specializing in weddings and various photo events. Currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota, I am considering majoring in either MIS or COMP-SCI. When asked about my favorite aspect of photography, I struggle to answer due to my aversion to labels. I find fulfillment in diverse photography projects, as long as they maintain the art’s intimacy, embodying my true creative ideology.
Despite being a student, I am also the owner and manager of two media businesses in Minnesota. We operate a studio in Golden Valley, offering services such as photoshoots and cinematography for various events, including documentaries, weddings, birthdays, engagements, showers, etc. Additionally, we provide a 360 booth service, allowing clients to enjoy lively video recording experiences.
My broader approach to work is centered around having fun while establishing means to extend my creative ideologies. I have a business partner, Cyrus, who is more like a brother to me. We both hail from Africa, specifically Liberia, and one of our goals is to reinvest in our cultural homeland. Recognizing the lack of opportunities for young people there, we are passionate about developing ideas to support those who are eager to learn and redefine their life stories.
Cyrus and I are gearing up to launch a significant organization at the University of Minnesota in the upcoming spring semester. We’re excited about the potential to positively impact lives both within and beyond the college community. While I can’t reveal all the details just yet, stay tuned for more exciting updates from us.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
We are all born with talents, and nurturing those talents can sometimes be challenging. However, I believe that finding opportunities to implement your talent will always speak volumes. Personally, I perceive the world as a broken place that requires understanding to foster growth. This perspective led me to pick up a camera and share my unconventional ideas with the world.
For those embarking on their early journey, my advice is to identify the things that ignite passion and love within them and use those elements to address global needs. Taking risks is also crucial. Even if it means facing losses in the long run, it prevents the repetition of past mistakes. I believe that risking our future to build one is the most effective way to enhance any journey.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
“We would love to collaborate with various artists. Given what we’re creating, establishing connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds is crucial for us. If you’re reading this and would like to partner, collaborate, or sponsor us, please feel free to reach out to my business on Instagram @Jnjcinema.”
We would love to collaborate with various artists, creatives, businesses, etc.
