Meet Jeremiah Flores

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeremiah Flores. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeremiah below.

Jeremiah, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome thoughts have affected everyone at some point in their lives. These thoughts of self doubt cause you to internally minimize the successes and progress you have made along the way. Whether that is overcoming an obstacle, achieving a goal, or recognizing changes you’ve made in your life for betterment. The battle against imposter syndrome is an ongoing part of life. I found that reminiscing, taking the time to reflect, breath, and plan, are important in order to remember the progress you have made. It is one thing to have obtained success and another to feel your successes. Achieving, overcoming, and consistency comes with much hard work that is far too commonly forgotten. Think about where you were in the past and then where you are today. Recognize the progress you have made whether it is tremendous or a single small positive step. Reflect on times in your life where you have been happy and think about what caused it. Plan a path that you would be proud of five years from now. Create a better life that when you reflect back that it fills you with content and that you would be proud of. And finally, keep these thoughts circulating, create your own motivation that defeats imposter syndrome no matter the day or obstacles in your path.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Jeremiah Flores, I am twenty-five years old and I am the Vice President of CM3 Construction Group, a local DFW contracting company. While working alongside Cody Miller III, we have been able to help communities recover after major storm events and natural disasters. We have been there to assist those affected by Hurricane Ian, Nicole, Ida, and Laura. We have completed projects for hospitals, churches, condominiums, apartments, schools, and government agencies. Our roofing division has grown to include not only Texas, but Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas, and Colorado. We take pride in orchestrating the many parts of the construction process and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standard. Our passion to help others and dedication to customer service is what I believe sets us apart from other contracting companies.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I believe that problem solving, communication, and time management skills were the most impactful in my journey. The art of problem solving allows you to overcome the obstacles that life presents to you in your personal life, career, or academics. There will always be a challenge or experience that feels overwhelming or that is different from any other path you have taken. Finding and honing your problem solving skills will help you keep you on your feet when it feels like the world is on your shoulders. Communication skills allow those around you to understand your thoughts, plans, and ideas. Without an understanding of these skills it will feel as if life itself is against you. Great communication skills will open doors and opportunities in any field and market you are in. Time management is one of the most difficult to maintain and develop. At times it will feel as if you are trying to be at multiple places at once or find yourself with less time than you had before. Learning to juggle all of the changes in your life will provide you with stability that allows you to grow while doing better at being consistent.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I believe that it is better to be more well rounded. In my experience owners and leaders are required to wear multiple hats. One day you are out in the field walking properties with clients and the next you are required to focus on your online marketing campaigns and then studying market trends in your industry. Someone who goes all in their strength will need to have assistance where they are not strong. In my career I take great pride in being able to achieve the goals presented to me and in order to do so I must be able to listen and see what is needed to accomplish them. The challenges that seem the hardest are the ones that we are not sure how to tackle or where to start. By being well rounded you are able to learn what is needed and then apply your strengths accordingly. There is nothing that others can do that can not be done better and there is nothing that you have done that cannot be done better.
