Meet Jeremiah Woodard

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeremiah Woodard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jeremiah, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
I just do whatever else makes me feel at peace. I enjoy other things such as video games, watching anime, listening to music and hanging out with my friends. It’s always good to be interested in other things as well as what you do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a freelance photographer from Fort Worth, Texas. I love what I do and I’m thankful everyday that I get to continue doing that thanks to the support of my friends and family. Without them, I would not be where I’m at today.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the three most important qualities are support, being open to constructive criticism and motivation. Support is the most important to me due to the fact that you have people that are there to help guide you through the obstacles that you will inevitably face during your journey. Being open to constructive criticism is another thing. Now, people get being disrespectful and constructive criticism mixed up. I take constructive criticism better than someone being disrespectful because they actually give you tips and ideas that will help make you better and help get you to that next level. Someone being disrespectful is just them constantly downplaying everything you do. Basically a hater in its worst form. Being motivated is basically the same as being inspired, which is also another important quality. Seeing others showcase their work, no matter where it is, is enough for me to go, “That could be me one day.” in a way, it does give me that sense of I can really do this in my head.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Doubt. A lot of doubt. A lot of times I feel like people don’t care if I do photography, but I have to reassure myself that my friends and family are applauding at the fact that I am doing something that I truly love doing and they don’t want me to stop. As long as I know that, I have no reason to be doubtful.
