Meet Jeremy Griggs

We were lucky to catch up with Jeremy Griggs recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jeremy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Personally, I derive a lot of my work ethic from what I’ve learned being in the gym and working out for 18 years. With bodybuilding, all of the progress takes immense amounts of time, patience, dedication, and hard work. It can take years to see any improvement in certain areas which can be frustrating. However, the patience pays off and in the end, the results are always worth it. In time, this built up my work ethic and bled into my business. I apply the approach of taking the time to learn to do things right, and improving whenever, and wherever I can.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I provide high quality vinyl wrap installs, and have been installing since 2012. While I do provide standard vinyl services such as wall murals, fleet vehicle wraps, and interior film, what I really focus on are color change vinyl installs. A color change is primarily focused on restyling a personal vehicle while also providing moderate protection, all while being completely removable. There is a certain artistic application when doing this type of install, and this is one of the things that I really enjoy about them. There are many unique styles and forms of installing color changes, and I’ve derived my own personal flair.

I myself am a huge car enthusiast, so when I receive a clients vehicle, I really take the time with it and treat it as if it were my own. I think this really sets me apart, as well as my desire to actually take on these types of projects. While most installers shy away from color changes, or try to pass them on, I actually seek them out. As with most things worth doing, it takes a lot of time, effort, trial and error to learn how to do these proficiently. However, I approach each project with an open mind and learn something new with each one.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think being personable and learning interpersonal skills was a rather hard, long learned lesson for me. It isn’t enough just to master a craft; you have to be able to communicate clearly, be charismatic and personable to clientele.

Showing up on time is a must. It sounds very simple, but I credit a lot of my success to just showing up with a good attitude. Getting into a structured routine in my personal life really helped with this.

Learning your worth is also something very important, and finding that balance takes a lot of time, trial and error. You don’t want to always be the cheapest, but you should also know your worth, and your clientele will reflect this.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

I would say one of the biggest factors of making an ideal client is someone who has an idea of what they want enough to convey it in words, but not so much that they aren’t open to suggestions. Let me break this down a little bit;

On the one end, I have clients that know they want a wrap, but have no idea what they actually want out of the wrap. This is one of the first questions I ask, “what are you going for and what do you want out of this wrap?” This is the first hint to me on where the client is in there thought process and what they’re going for. Once I have an idea, I can start giving out suggestions and getting more information to ultimately make a good decision. Sometimes, this can even take weeks!

As mentioned before, I am a huge car enthusiast. Because of this, I am always paying attention to what looks good, what doesn’t, and what doesn’t work at all styling wise on cars. There is nothing better than a client who lets me make suggestions! I deal with cars almost all day every week, and while a picture of what a client brings me from google photos looks good on that car in that particular lighting, that doesn’t necessarily translate into it being a good match on there vehicle. At the end of the day, I am really trying my hardest to help my clients navigate into good decision making, and provide them with a product and service they’re happy with.
