Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeriesha Bushyhead. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jeriesha, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I have learned to be effective and successful even when I am the only one in the room who looks like me by embracing my uniqueness and leveraging it as a strength. I have cultivated a strong sense of self-confidence and self-worth, knowing that my diverse perspective and experiences bring value to the table.
I have honed my communication and networking skills, building meaningful connections and relationships with others in the room. I have been able to establish myself as a respected and trusted professional, regardless of my appearance by simply being outspoken.
I focus on continuous learning and personal growth, staying informed about industry trends and best practices. This dedication to excellence has allowed me to demonstrate my expertise and competence, gaining the respect and admiration of my peers.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I love providing high-quality virtual assistance and support to businesses. I specialize in a range of services, including administrative tasks, social media management, and project management. My goal is to help my clients streamline their operations, increase efficiency, and achieve their business objectives.
What I find most exciting and special about my work is the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of clients and industries. I love the challenge of learning about different businesses and tailoring my services to meet their specific needs. Building strong relationships with my clients and seeing the positive impact of my support on their success is incredibly rewarding.
We are expanding to create a JB Virtual-Nonprofit to provide complimentary services to nonprofit businesses.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say learning to adapt. I had to adjust from a corporate mindset to a business owner mindset. Understanding I make my own processes. I had a valid skill to just be a helping hand. But learning when to step aside and let someone else do it as well was a big adjustment. The main impact on my journey was learning to not take business decisions so personal.
My advice would be to slowly learn your new ways. It takes time.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are looking to collaborate with creative and ambitious individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the virtual services.
