Jeris, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

I travel, find a new restaurant (I’m a major foodie), pickup some snacks and watch some of my favorite throwback shows/movies, or a good mani/pedi day are some of the main things I do for self-care. It has had a major effect impact because it helps me disconnect from being on a schedule and all the hustle and bustle throughout the workdays.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As an event photographer and content creator, my role goes beyond just taking pictures. I capture the essence and energy of each event, creating visual stories that resonate with audiences. Whether it’s a corporate gathering, a wedding, a music festival, or a community event, I aim to encapsulate the unique atmosphere and memorable moments that make each event special.

What excites me most about my work is the diversity and dynamism of the events I cover. No two events are the same, and this variety keeps my creative juices flowing. I get to meet interesting people, witness extraordinary moments, and be a part of experiences that range from intimate and personal to grand and public. The thrill of capturing a perfect shot, one that tells a story or evokes emotion, is incredibly rewarding.

In addition to photography, I create content that complements and enhances the visual storytelling. This includes behind-the-scenes videos, social media posts, and promotional material that helps my clients amplify their event’s impact. My goal is to provide a comprehensive package that not only preserves memories but also drives engagement and excitement around the event.

One of the most special aspects of my work is the ability to connect with people and share in their joy and celebration. Being trusted to document significant moments in people’s lives is a true honor, and I strive to exceed expectations with every project.

My brand is all about creativity, authenticity, and connection. I believe in the power of visual storytelling to bring people together and create lasting impressions. Whether it’s through the lens of my camera or the content I create, my mission is to capture and convey the magic of each moment, making it timeless.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey as a photographer and content creator were creativity, adaptability, and communication. Creativity allowed me to see unique perspectives and bring fresh ideas to my work, making each project stand out. Adaptability helped me navigate different types of events and client needs, ensuring I could handle any situation smoothly. Strong communication skills were essential for understanding client expectations, collaborating effectively, and building lasting relationships.

For those early in their journey, I advise nurturing creativity by constantly experimenting with different styles and techniques, and seeking inspiration from various sources. Develop adaptability by challenging yourself to work in diverse environments and with different subjects, and always being open to learning new skills. Improve communication by practicing active listening, being clear and concise in your interactions, and continuously working on building strong interpersonal connections.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to support and encourage my creative interests from a young age. They provided me with the tools and opportunities to explore photography and content creation, whether it was by giving me my first camera, enrolling me in art classes, or simply encouraging my creative projects. Their belief in my abilities and their willingness to invest in my passions gave me the confidence to pursue a career in a field I love.
