Meet jeronimo speaks

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeronimo Speaks . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jeronimo with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic comes from seeing my mother struggle, I grew up in less than sustainable circumstances. It was my mother , me and my 3 sisters surviving on the Southside of Chicago. I watched my mother work dead end jobs, barely making ends meet, living in shelters or staying with friends and family members to pulling herself and us out of the gutta. The same tenacity she had in working her numerous jobs is the same tenacity she had in raising us. I inherited her ability to work hard and follow through, task management, and persistence. My work ethic is deeply rooted in my mothers efforts.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities/skills I have gained over the years that secured longevity and success in this field of spoken word poetry is consistency, practice, and belief in self. To up-n-coming artist my advice would be to stay practicing on your craft, be consistent, and take chances by betting on self. These practices have served me well over the years , no matter your mood or what current thing that’s happening in your life, you have to continue to work towards your artistry daily, be it writing or practicing your poems, you operate in your mastery daily. And lastly no one will believe in you like you will, succeed or fail definitely bet on your craft and your ability to do it at a high level..

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
An eye opening book for me was “THE 48 LAWS OF POWER”, A lot of the laws in the book we naturally do daily without knowing. It’s great to put these everyday characteristics in perspective and hone in on them with the tutor-ledge of this book. I use these laws daily in a positive and morally sound way. A nugget I took from this book and operate in frequently is “Win Through Your Actions, Never Through Argument” law 9. I feel this is pretty self explanatory and practiced the right way, could be very powerful.
