Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jerrell with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic has been a part of my personality since I was a child. I believe I learned it from my grandfather. When I was a child, he worked long hours. Most of the time he would come home have dinner with the family take a 30min – 60min nap and was back out the door to work. I still apply that principal in my life. I work a full time job (10hrs a day) anywhere between 4 to 6 days a week, and split my remaining time in my at home studio working on music, streaming video game content on twitch.tv, and spending time with my wife.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Jerrell Keels. I am a Music Producer/Content Creator currently based in Baltimore, MD. I have been working on my skills as a music producer since 2010(14yrs). I have created music across a few genres (hip-hop, RnB, Trap, Drill, Boom Bap, Baltimore Club, and Jersey Club). I have produced tracks for artists and content creators in the DMV, Philly, Jersey, Barbados, and more. My focus is simply to enjoy the process of making music. Professionally, my dream is to open a multi-media studio for music, film & photography, graphic design, and content creators. My most recent venture is my new bandcamp page which is where the bulk of my work will be available. My most recent placements are Plenty by Sumo Sleek Ft. Sweizo on the Album titled “Project Orange” and Get Buried by G. Bomber (both available on all streaming platforms. My most recent personal project “Journey” the instrumental album was released on Jan 2024 and is available on bandcamp and all streaming platforms as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Never giving up. Each day brings you one step closer to your dreams/goals. Work in silence, until the project or objective is complete and ready.. Practice whatever it is you want to do daily. Practice improves progression. Don’t mistakes movement for progress. Surround yourself with people that build you up, that are in better positions than you, and hold conversations that you can gain knowledge from. One thing that I have been focused more on lately than anything else is “Learning something new everyday.” No matter how big or small in value it is. It could be the meaning of a word I didn’t know, tasting a new food…etc…etc.

I am open to work with other Music Producers and I am always looking to work with artists.
