Meet Jerry Egbaji

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jerry Egbaji a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerry, so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?

first off, i stop whatever it is i’m trying to do. take a break. take a walk & listen to some music. watch a movie. visit friends and play video games. basically, just leave my current environment for a couple hours and try doing something random. it works, every time.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

i am a musical artist. a singer and a song writer. the fact i make art from nothingness is special to me, i could never take it for granted. at this point in my life, this is what i’m focused on.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

i had to study and understand sound selection myself. helped me in regards melody when working with sound engineers during beat production.

learnt a great deal about creative directing. it’s essential to have knowledge about these things as well so you can have an idea yourself, first, as to what direction an art should take.

networking. that’s a skill set on it’s own.
at some point, you would have navigate the industry with your social currency.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

yes. i’m looking to collaborate with brands in and outside the field. fashion brands, tv/film/media houses, sport brands, merch (street wears) etc.
that “marriage” with small to budding brands at this stage would do a lot for all parties involved. also, the experience is something i’m looking forward to.
they can reach me on @boybajii on all socials.
