Meet Jess Montgomery

We were lucky to catch up with Jess Montgomery recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jess, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I have a deep conviction that resilience is a core element of one’s character.
Growing up in the 1980s, I am flooded with vivid recollections of pivotal moments from my early years, significantly influencing the person I’ve evolved into as an adult.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Reflecting on my past, I uncovered the positive facets of my character following my divorce. My experience as a survivor of domestic violence served as the catalyst for my decision to establish a non-profit organization.

Today, I am a mother of four children, a boutique wedding photographer behind the brand Jess Montgomery Photo & Fine Art, and the proud Founder & CEO of the non-profit organization Chloe’s Promise Charitable Foundation, Inc.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’ve discovered the importance of wholeheartedly trusting my instincts, prioritizing what I can influence rather than getting caught up in what’s beyond my control. It demands conscious effort, a touch of grace, as well as unwavering grit and determination.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I’m an all in kinda girl. Instead of conforming to the norm, I prefer to shape my own.
