Meet Jess Williams

We were lucky to catch up with Jess Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jess, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by seeing creativity In everything. Creativity is the ability to see something for more than what meets the eye. How you style an outfit, how your Pinterest feed is curated, how your room is decorated, all are tiny glimpses of how one lets their creativity live on and on. I’m a huge fan of art, music, fashion and culture and I try to remember to be as creative as possible, any chance I get. It can be tough though, because we as creatives sometimes find ourselves in spaces that don’t always push us to keep thinking outside of the box but I stay grounded In my creativity by letting it take up space in whatever way it can.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Jess Williams also known as jessfckyess, and I am an educator with a passion for fashion, music and lifestyle. I’ve worked in education for 10+ years and hope to continue to inspire the youth to always remain true to who they are. I enjoy traveling, modeling, curating playlists and making content surrounding various creative topics such as art exhibits, outfit inspirations for the tall girls out there, and my love for the coolest bags I can find. I hope to dabble into dj’ing soon so if you see jessfckyess on the flyer just know it’s going to be a good time!
Vibe with me! I’m always down to meet new creatives, follow me on any social media platform @jessfckyess, or @thee.baglady for bag content.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Perseverance, faith and optimism. All three of those qualities have allowed me to have the strength to keep going even when I ultimately don’t feel like it. I’m grateful for the opportunity to live this life, and In my pursuit of my happiness I strive to think of the best outcome, “how much better can this get?” Remember to always think that, any situation can improve if you remain grounded in your faith and understanding of your self. Don’t be afraid to look within!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a book that played an important role in my development. These four rules to live by are impactful guidelines to live by because they help remind you to stay grounded in being the best version of yourself that you can be.
Be Impeccable with your Word, Don’t Take Anything Personally, Don’t Make Assumptions, and Always Do Your Best.
