We were lucky to catch up with Jesse Griffin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jesse, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
During my adolescent years I struggled with self-esteem and self-confidence due to the poor choices I made, which followed drug addiction and doing prison time for 2 1/2 years. It took a long time for me to overcome guilt, shame and condemnation in order for my self-confidence and self-esteem to undergo its development.
In life, we will all make mistakes, it is inevitable. Our past mistakes and poor choices do not dictate to us who we are, what our future should be or look like, nor do they have a say in what our purpose is in life. We are all here on earth on purpose with a purpose. None of us are a mistake.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Currently, I am embarking on a journey of being an entrepreneur and business owner. My business is called Courtesy Car Care. I do interior and exterior detailing alongside an amazing tech team. I also install ceramic coatings-which are my absolute favorite to do! I am always looking to learn new techniques to bring the best out of a customer’s vehicle and bring it back to an optimal shine. We also look to see in what ways we can best protect a vehicle’s clear coat.
My greatest satisfaction in what I do is when my clients’ faces beam with joy at the sight of their “newly” detailed vehicle. I know I have done my job when they say, “My car has never looked this good-it looks new!”.
Along with owning my own vehicle detailing business, I am also a pastor and founder of Kingdom Reign Int’l. Ministries. I have traveled halfway around the world and back in the last thirty years. This is my greatest passion.
I have gone on missionary trips; twice to Honduras and most recently to Cuba.
We work to share the Good News of the Gospel to everyone.
I do mentorship with men to help them grow. Over the years, I have done biblical studies to help further one’s walk in Christ.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have found that honesty, integrity, and being relational in this line of business is greatly appreciated, as it is a very competitive line of work. Acquiring a mentor has been helpful in broading and enhancing my skillset. I am learning to grow slow. It is not wise to take on more than one is able.
Ambition with a lack of skill, knowledge, or ability can set one back. There have been times I have had to silence the voice of ambition so that I can make sound choices.
Seeing my business grow little by little has helped me gain a greater perspective in navigating my business in the right direction and in leading my team.
Being patient in growing slowly alongside a mentor builds strength, fosters a unique skillset, and builds up confidence. We can never be too wise to lean into our own understanding or knowledge. We can always glean from others who have trailblazed before us– there’s no shame in that.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
In the last 12 months, I have grown more confident in my skill set. This has helped solidify the trust and confidence of current partnerships and clientele.
I am able to share about their vehicle’s detailing needs assertively, and share the process of what I need to do to recondition their vehicle without hesitation.
Learning in this path of entrepreneurship has caused me to grow stronger as a leader, father, husband, a pastor, and become a source of strength and encouragement to those around me.
